Greddy Turbo?

Hey all, this is my first post and first thread. Im really new to forums, so i hope im making this in the write area of the website..
anyways, to the meat and patatoes of this thread.
Right now i have a cobalt ss/na 2.4L 06. Im looking at souping the thing up,
and i read the list about whats good for mods on a 2.4L, but I was wondering if a greddy turbo kit would work with my car? Im also looking at getting the SLP loudmouth exhaust, (love the sick sound of it) I know i need to tune the engine for the turbo to work. but im not really mechanicaly inclined, so any helpful mechnaics out there just give me a shout thanks =D

not mechanically inclined? your gonna be looking at alot of money to buy the kit, install, and tuning. Best bet is to buy some books and read up on how an engine works etc. get a basic concept of everything.

Eh, unless I was a mechanic or have mechanic friends or the sort, I really wouldn't want to install a turbo myself. The shop around here that I was looking into for the Hahn kit was charging 4 grand, everything installed and tuned, ready to drive the day I pick it up. So its not like your spending ridiculous amounts of extra cash, but you are going to pay a premium to have others do it.

You should know some of the basics though because imo, you should be able to spot problems, bad installs and just general maintenance down the road. Again friends always help, just make sure they know more than you before you trust them to touch your car .

A shop cannot install the kit in less than a day. The install is very extensive.

I helped a shop down here do it. Had 4 of us working on it. And it got done in 1 day. Granted, we started working on it at about 3pm, and finished that night at 1am.

But assuming you do the math, 3pm to 1am is 10hours. A average shop is only open what? 8? That would be 2 days.

I then installed the Boost Guage and whatnot the next day in about 1-2 hours. With the wiring, plus running the boost line, etc.
