my overly expensive hobby
finally got some pics of my fleet

left to right, hpi super nitro rs4, 12 cell parma drag car, nitro tc3, savage x ss and xray micro.

my nitro tc3 currently sporting an os .15cv-r with novarossi pipe. usualy has a rossi black pixi, although im awaiting a new piston and sleeve for it. not much for hop ups, car works great with a little suspention tuning.

my xray micro. mini machine motor, novak spy esc, carbon fiber chassis, ball diffs.

hpi super nitro rs4. .15T engine, 2 speed, carbon fiber top plate, fiber brake disc.

drag car. its an old parma pan chassis (im thinking at least 15 years old, was at one stop when i got my first car waay back), 540 motor, 12 cells, microswitch. needs a lot of refinement, mainly a better motor and possibly to go with a speed controller, even a mechanical one.

my latest, a savage X SS. pretty much stock, runs a hitec 645 steering servo, ball bearing steering linkage upgrade and a reverse module. soon to come is a 3 speed and wheelie bar (it needs it)
a couple pics of my dads toys

ofna mbx buggy, converted to onroad. has an os .21, 2 speed tranny, short shocks. this thing is stupidly fast

twin engine t-maxx. engines are traxxas pro .15 that have been ported, traxxas pipes, lots of custom work on this truck.

my first car i got when i was 16, it was an hpi nitro rs4 2. i did a few things, cheap tuned pipe and header, 2 speed, different tires. the motor got tired so i ended up getting an hpi/novarossi 12r sc. i wasnt working at the time and had almost no money, so i got busy in metalwork and redesigned the car to make it competitive. ended up using an rc10gt fuel tank, mounting it in the center of the chassis, moved the long belt to the side of the car, moved the layshaft to the front, used a rear belt to the front diff, relocated the servos to the center of the car nd made my own top plate. once i did all that the car became very competitive and easy to drive. i did quite well racing with it. however once i had a decent job i bought the nitro tc3 and sold the hpi, and i do regret it.
the hobby isnt near as expensive as it was when i started 9 years ago. the technology has really grown and for the money you get an real nice car/truck. you can get the ready to run (add fuel, radio batteries and a glow starter) version of the savage for around $385us. when i started i ended up spending around $650 just to get a very basic car running, and i had my own radio gear.

planes are very pricey when you get deep into it, a $60 park flier kit never keeps a person happy. one reason i stayed out of planes was because of the cost, and its not if you crash it, its when you crash it. a friend of my dads has a huge collection of planes, his pride and joy is an f16. the thing is massive, its around an 8' wingspan. it has a real jet turbine. iirc, he spent over 14k on it.
I used to be into those too! Used to have a T-Maxx with a .016 motor and a bunch of mods and a duratrax maximum st pretty much stock. I used to use the hell out of those things!
