2.5 or 3 inch exhaust decision...

Ok I need to know that with the direction I'm going do I need a 2.5 inch or 3 inch exhaust? I plan on porting and polishing my head to try and break 300whp, I will not be doing a turbo or tvs upgrade. I have a 1 3/4 primaries header with a 3 inch catted dp that comes down to a 2.5 inch flange, after the cat, as of now bolted up to my stock exhaust. The question has been asked in other threads and I've done the research, but I'm planning on staying stock blower and getting close to or breaking 300whp and that area is a bit fuzzy.

I agree, i got the cti header, cti 3"catless dp,and cti3" catback. The cti cat back fits better than the gmpp i took off.My car should be making 340 or better whp.

If you plan on going above 300whp with the m62 your going to need the 3" exhaust. I know I ran a 2.6 setup on a 3" exhaust and I used its potential. I then bumped up to a 2.9 and the 3" exhaust actually killed my whp.

Because you are porting your head you will be able to utilize the 3" exhaust otherwise our exhaust ports dont flow enough for you to need the 3" unless you are pushing alot of psi Ie turbo/tvs

No need for a Poll.. If you're going to be pushing 300WHP you're going to want a 3" exhaust or a Cutout IMO. If you don't like the sound of a 3" exhaust like some on here do not, just get a cutout right after your downpipe and keep the stock sound when you want and Performance at the flip of a switch.

Why do a cut out? Everyone says that looses low end torque and makes no beneficial gains

Cutout are for people that decide they want to keep the stock sound and stock exhaust.. I ran a full 3" dp and had the cutout in the dp so it was a full 3" with cutout open and when closed it was stock catback which is 2.5" and 2.25 at the axel bend... With my cutout open, I saw very nice gains obviously.
