Question on warranty coverage with brakes
Question on warranty coverage with brakes
Okay so i bought my 2007 LT brand new.........still has a warranty
i have just under 19000 miles and the front rotors are warped incredibly........it feels like the steering column is gonna rattle off the firewall when i brake so i know its the rotors that are the culprit
is there any documented defects on the rotors of the cobalts? In other words im basically asking if this is covered under warranty

15k is WAY past where most dealers will warranty. Most consider 5k to be within the "warranty" range. 15k is sooner than normal but not so soon that improper driving, over torqued wheels, or other maintenance error could be to blame. Good luck though.
"Some" would be correct, except that I'd go so far as to say they offer NO performance increase, and in some cases DECREASE performance and longevity of the friction material.
I don't even recommend slotted. They're not as bad as drilled, but they don't offer enough improvement over stock to be worthwhile.
The key to good braking is proper fluid maintenance and properly matched pads and rotors (and decent driving skills). I've been on OEM rotors and Hawk pads for 40,000 miles with no grooves, marks, warping, or anything what so ever. Granted, I'm going to need to replace them in about 5k, but 45,000 miles out of a set of brakes that have 4 road racing sessions and a handful of auto-x's on them ain't bad at all.

now im pissed............the dealer said they arent even gonna cover it..........they claimed that the rear drums are out of adjustment.........and that is the cause of warping the front rotors.......they havent even looked at my car yet aint that some ****
anyone else get told to **** off by the stealership on this issue? bump?

they prob cant turn them if there that bad.
there soooo thin. and new ones arnt thhhhttt bad.
i would just do what i have and buy new rotors and pads from your local parts store and do it yourself.
slotted/drilled, are garbage on low HP FWD cars. there just going to crack. get blanks and ceramic pads.
