Dejon Short Ram Intake, Charge Piping, BPV upgrade

Just put all this stuff on over the past couple of days and wow what a difference it all makes to the feel and sound of the car.

The installs were actually all pretty easy and I was able to do them all without having to look up and how-tos or what not.

Only problem I had was after driving around in the car for a bit, I wanted to show my brother the better pull through 2nd gear and the crisper sound from the BPV and POP! Charge piping going into the intake popped out of the wormdrive coupler.

I am pretty sure I forgot to tighten the bottom clamp all the way, but wanted to see if anyone else had trouble with their charge piping popping loose under heavy acceleration.

I re-tightened the coupler and the clamp completely and gave the engine some heavy revs in idle and gave it a shot pulling hard through 2nd gear again and it seemed ok. Anyone else have problems with their charge piping coming loose or popping off?

Keeping all my tools in my car for the next few days in case something happens again during my daily commute.

There have been numerous reports of aftermarket piping blowing off. A friend of mine (and member of this site) actually blasted a small dent in his hood when the piping came off during a dyno run. Make sure piping is bolted on correctly and secure. *One of the many reasons I am keeping the stock piping.

One thing that should be noted is that the learn down will bring you back to 260hp unless you have a tune so there is no performance gain.....something to consider for future mods.

But I am sure the sound is quite aggresive now. Congrats on the parts.

One of the reasons I want to get rid of the stock piping is that it keeps popping off the bracket and breaking the wire on the fuel pressure regulator. It popped off again yesterday and actually broke the square part of the pipe where it goes over the rubber grommet.

menace066 the friend agentkimball is talking about is me. i have the rubber couplers and standard worm gear clamps. during my dyno tune session my clamp broke off the turbo and shot up into my hood and put a dent. i got it fixed, but not the point. luckily the tuner had some t-bolt clamps. One other thing to note is that the dejon piping needs be rolled a little better. get the piping rolled on each end and get some t-bolt clamps and silcone couplers. hers's a site i went to to get the clamps and couplers: http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/

nah i didn't cuz its not his fualt...i should have went and paid extra for the silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps...the thing is i knew this, but i wanted to cheap out for once in my life and i ended up paying for it..lol...**** happens and you live and learn. i just recommend whoever buys dejon ic kit spend the extra money and get the t-bolt clamps and silicone couplers. as for the bead rolling on each end of the piping i just had it done for security and personal assurance, a lot of people here who have that piping dont get it bead rolled even more and nothing happens. I just suggest doing it for a worry free install.

yeah i re-tightened all the piping and it seemed ok this morning on my way to work. i didnt hammer it at all, but on my way home im going to push it when im near my house to see if anything pops loose again. if thats the case im going for the better couplings shiftingloco mentioned.

i knew i should have just pennied up for the better couplings in the first place.

btw i noticed to, my pipe going up into the turbo manifold at least didnt seem like it was 100% straight lined up with the manifold opening. could have just been the angle i was looking at, but is this common with anyone else, and if so is it a problem and how did you go about getting that pipe straight?

basically my pipe going in the turbo manifold is as tight as a bitch right now, i whacked away at it while i was reinstalling it and it wasnt moving an inch, so if it turns out my pipe is a little crooked you think that could cause some future problems for me, or would the coupling if its on tight enough save me from that?

AMEN to all of the above posts. The reverse dent in my hood is really annoying, knowing I just had to spend a bit more for t-bolt instead of worm clamps.... Ive lost my piping 6 times now.

Its really embarrassing to be going full throttle, hear a really LOUD bang, and loose all acceleration.
