Possibly leaving exhaust stock?

So I was sitting in the driveway this evening after I got off of work, Just listening to the car idle. I like to do that every once in a while to check for new squeaks or rattles.

I gave her a rev or two... up to 3k or so... and was pleasantly surprised to hear the exhaust gargling a little as it came back down to idle. I've been looking into different exhaust systems.... but now I think I may just leave a stock "quiet" muffler on there and just go with 2.5" piping from the cat back.

Any of y'all actually stopped to listen to the stock exhaust on this thing?

With all the exhausts out I am still to find one I really like. Hence I will be leaving my exhaust stock till at least next summer.

If you aren't going to change the muffler, save yourself the money and don't bother with the pipes. It's not going to get you anywhere if you increase the piping and the inlet to the muffler remains stock size.

Yah, I am with you. The GMPP exhasut looks pretty good, but I doubt it gains much power. The stock exhaust is one the best sounding I4 I have heard. It is loud when you are on it, and quiet when you are not. I think it is perfect! Sounds real good when you rev it. I love driving by people and knocking off a quick heel-toe downshift! That quick "blip" sure gets their attention.

I would love to get the GMPP sport cat-back exhaust, but I just don't think exhuast is worth it for like 2-3 HP gains. The only reason most people buy exhaust is for the sound. For me personally, it is pretty good in stock form.

I love the way it sounds. On the way into work today, I had the windows down. Made a left turn on to a main rd, and gunned it hard and was very supprised at the sound. Kindy throaty but mellow (hard to describe). But good

I agree with everyone that gives our stock 2.4 exaust the complements I know that I don't want to spend the bucks for the exhaust if I dont need to When I hit the exhaust I notice a good sound that i think to myself that 300, 400 or even 550 bucks can go towards more than an exhaust that just sounds like who knows what Besides I work right next to a muffler shop and on the way home a bunch of noise is comming out of there at times. I'm waiting for matt at tune time to contact me next week and i'll go from there. I also looked at my exhaust and at the most I would Replace the muffler only. The exhaust on my car Has no kinks so until I hear more Than 3hp gains I'll hang On to my money for later upgrades

the corsa touring is like the stock exhaust at idle and all but when you get on it its much more pleasing

I bet it does.... but a $300 custom job and $400 to spend on other mods sounds a lot better to me than a $700 exhaust system.
