Injen cai filter

i have a question about the cai filter. Is it the intake system itself giving me the added

performance or a filter letting all the dirt in the world enter my engine, that could cost me

lots of $$$ for future repairs??

Stock intake setup = ****. A CAI will reduce intake air temps by drawing air in through the fender along with eliminating two power robbing intake resonators. (Three if you count the airbox itself)

Also you get quicker throttle response.

i think you are referring to an intake itself, in either short ram or cold air intake...

GM/Most car manufacturers design the car intake and exhaust for the comprimise of 3 things:
1. Fuel economy

2. Performance

3. Noise

with aftermarket intakes, the filter is designed to increase performance, and usually results in improved fuel economy at the cost of increasing noise. that is why you see the increase, not because dirt is getting into your engine because it isnt filtered.

Hope that helps

Hmm everyone bashes the AEM CAI but here is why I wonder...

Since installing it (The second day I bought my car) I noticed the gas mileage went down. Mainly because I WHOOOOOOOOOMP it a little too much but I figured since I put it on my car so much earlier then everyone else that my PCM or whatever was configured from the get-go (Miles = 100) that it believed that was the stock intake and programmed accordingly. Am I wrong? Also, I may not be the best driver in the world but I honestly believe there is no proof or fact behind the AEM being worse then the INJEN. I know I don't have to Oil mine, but I thought that was the material it was made of or something. Can anyone give me proof or a reason why AEM is worse then Injen? if not I think AEM is better cuz I am the only person on the entire site with AEM and everyone else is just guessing...

you are almost right, people are going off of the claimed gains versus actually doing it themselves and seeing what the gains are. with all intakes, there will more than likely never be more than a 2hp difference between any two (thats just the reality beyond the claims).
my reasoning for going with injen over anyone else (and i do have AEM on my cav) is because of the convenience of having a CAI and a SRI in the same package.

i also have the aem intake and the only gripe i have is on my ls the lower grill is molded and not an insert. im not using the filter that came with the intake, im using one with a shroud around it with only the front opened, and im trying to figure a way to create a ram air effect without cutting the bumper. any suggestions?

i dont mean to sound like an ass when i say this but i would start a new thread rather than posting a question within a thread. it is easier for people to notice, to reply.
