it's raining INSIDE my door?!#

oh god...

I was outside today taking my door panels off etc to put in my new door speakers and it started raining.
stock speaker is out, holes and speed clips are in waiting for the new speaker..
So it starts raining and I'm like no biggy I'll finish up tomorrow...WRONG

I moved my car in the driveway just now and I feel something dripping on my leg like wtf???? I reach down and put my hand in the speaker opening and its really raining inside my driver door(dripping really....REALLY bad)

and yes my door was closed when it was doing this lol

exterior seal (rubber against the window), if you look on your own cobalt and follow it to the front where it meets the vertical seal kinda along side the mirror/window, the two seals weren't touching together allowing a small gab between the window, thus letting in water!!... It killed my stock speaker :[

All cars (and I do mean ALL) leak a bit at any window that slides down into the door.
No way to seal it perfect, thats why they have drains at the bottom of the doors and that plastic "sheet" inside.

And yes, if that seal (pointed out ^^^^) has dried out or become loose, it will leak more than normal. Make sure that plastic sheet is back in place (and in 1 piece) before you put the interior panels back on.

ya i can see the drainage holes on the inside, but this is leaking behind the plastic, like inside the door... I went to replace my stock speaker and found out about the leak.

The only thing I've done so far was drill holes and put in those speed clips for new speaker. You think if I replace the stock speaker and just tell them I was gunna replace it myself, aftermarket and noticed the leak in the process. I mean i havent cut any wires yet and my dealer is pretty cool, I go to them all the time

how could they say anything about the speakers anyway? It's the exterior seal thats bad... I dont even want a new oem speaker just fix the damn seal

If it is getting wet between the plastic and the interior side of the door you do have a problem.
Dealer might give you a bit of grief because you pulled the interior panel off but they should cover it - taking an interior panel off should not make the door leak. Might take a bit of convincing however
