Alright...start the flaming lol.
I've always wanted a CAI, but what has always stopped me was the fear of getting water into the engine and messing it up if I installed a CAI. Is this a real risk, and if it is, is there something I can do to prevent it other than switching back and forth from a CAI to the stock air intake? TIA

thats the same reason i dont want a CAI, my buddys SRT4 got messed up with a CAI and water getting in it... but most people have no problems. get a water sheild thing that covers the filter

if you look at this guys pic....he has a cover over his! there is your fix!
To hydrolock the engine you will need to drive through deep enough water to almost completely submerge the filter. At this point there will be water coming in your doors and the engine will be the least of your worries. Keep in mind that water is a natural product of combustion. For the amount of water needed to hydrolock the block to get in, you will be pretty much swimming. don't worry about it.
