Oil Life % DIC

I got an oil change a few weeks back, and it says the oil life is 5% and should get it changed. But I already did. So is it a sensor problem, or something else?

They probably forgot to reset the system. Look in your owners manual and reset it.

I can't believe my manual says to change the only when the dic says to... ~6-7k miles or at least once a year (optimal conditions) 0_o

It seems weird but mine has been pretty accurate... In the winter with the ridiculously low temperatures we get, my oil didn't last much longer than I'd have expected. My second oil change is looking like it will last much longer... I'm only 1,400km (800mi) from the dealer's "recommended" oil change (per windshield sticker), but the DIC says 72% and my oil still looks pretty damn clean.

Mind you, I do run synthetic as with all TCs, so the dealer's 5,000km change suggestion doesn't mean much.

People have told me that max synthetic will take me 3,ooo miles hahahaha.

As for regular changes, the dealership told me 4-5k I think, still short of what the DIC predicts.

naw, if you run a full synthetic, you should be absolutely fine changing it when the DIC says so! I never count the miles, just watch the percentage on the DIC. some will even argue that a good synthetic is good for DOUBLE what the DIC predicts!

I agree.............Mobil claims that Mobil 1 will last 12,000 miles under optimal conditions. Now your oil filter is a different story

I trust my oil life meter fully. I trust it with Conventional, and Synthetic.
