Hey guys i got this weird knocking noise coming from the engine. my check engine light came on and it says reduce eng power. my car slower than a stock honda civic now. than it stalled out on me. it seems like there's something wrong with the fuel system because when i hit the gas pedal it is delayed. I thought maybe i put bad gas so i put some octane and topped off the tank. i drove it around for a while to see if the "bad gas" would pass. Car just gave out on me. Like i say it's delayed from when you push the gas pedal to the actual gas going into the engine and it seems like it's struggling for gas. Has this ever happened to anyone else? or does anyone know what it might be?

 

why would you keep driving with reduced engine power? get the code scanned

 

Because i listened to my dumb ass friend. What do you mean scanned?

 

when the check engine light comes on, an OBD code is set by the PCM. get a code reader and scan the code. it will give us a better idea as to what is going on

What were you doing before the noise started,Just driving along at the speed limit,or High rev pulls ?

Would help narrow it down also where located on the engine is the knocking coming from.

 

Any time the car is making "knocking" noises, it is not good. Normally if the check engine light comes on or if eng reduced comes on you should get the car checked out and definately not keep driving.

 

Just driving down the highway. I can't actually pinpoint where the noise is coming from.

I know i shouldn't have done this but the car wasn't starting so I pumped the gas a little and than cranked it. The car would stay on until the gas that i pumped through would pass than it would shut off. Do you think it could be the TPS?

 

Could be a sticking valve ,I wouldnt run it anymore if the knocking is quite violent.
Might be a valve or piston problem.
Does it sound like its running on 3 cylinders.

 

Idk what it is. I can't run it anymore because it doesn't start without pumping the gas first. I honestly don't know what 3 cylinders running would sound like.
