Air leak through pcv tube

I finished all the Mods this weekend and shot up to BYT for a tune. During the tune he noticed that I had some issues with knock and my timing was all over. He said I might have an air leak. We went back to his house and narrowed it down to the pcv connection coming from the intake hose. He gooped some RTV on it and we went back out. Problem solved. My question is, is this common? I would like to solve it permanently not just with rtv. I have the ZZP intake tube with the metal tube connection coming out of it. Could that be at fault? Will that cause an air leak? I will say that the car is a beast after the tune. I dont know if the boost gauge is correct but it does crest 24psi. It moves. Going to try it out for a while. It might be a bit much for a DD. I may have to ask to scale it down a bit. Thanks Dennis

Ps. posted this is 2.0 LNF engine performance as well. Wasnt sure which area would be better. Thanks again

24 psi on stock turbo isn't much for dd, it's about 3-315whp.

I hear ya, but driving around in Manhattan is crazy. Takes some getting used to the power and how to play with the pedal. My main concern, reliability. Obviously if you are in the turbo floored all the time its not going to last. Im not at all, but the 24psi needle pegs sure do make me nervous. I will say that nick at BYT s a really nice guy and easy to work with. Im glad im close to him, a hell of a tuner.
