After install exhaust question?
After install exhaust question?
I installed my Corsa Touring today, and when I started it up later on this evening again it sounded really ricey until it was well heated up.
Did anyone have to go back and tighten the clamps again? I think I'm going to put the car on a lift again, and re-tighten the clamps while the exhaust is cold.

Ihave the pacesetter exhaust and it also sounds rasspy right when it starts up but then after about a minute of driving it warms up an sounds great. I don't really know how to fix it but if you tighten your clamps and it helps please post and I'll try it on mine.

the best way to do it is tighen them when they are warm.

How does that make sense? If you tighten hot you will never get the clamps as tight as when cold. The metal will have expanded and then will contract when it gets cold, making what was once tight loose...
when it is warm and expanded tighten it as much as possible, because along w/ the exhaust would the clamps not expand as well with heat, if they are metal clams i would think so. Im used to welded exhausts, so i am not totally sure if this is the reasoning to the previous comment.

Good point, forgot about that part.
Including that though it shouldn't make a difference then when you tighten it cause everything should expand and contract the same if made of the same material.
I put the exhaust on cold obviously. Then I started the car and let it warm up. I then torqued them a little more while it was warm. I am going to put it on a lift this weekend and recheck everything. I agree on the welding part, but stainless steel isn't easily weldable for me at the moment.
