No Lift Shift Doesn't exist!? GASP
No Lift Shift Doesn't exist!? GASP
So I I've been having issues shifting from 1st to 2nd gear with the NLS. It grinds 2nd gear when I do it. So I dropped the car off at 'Reliable Chevy' this morning. Went and picked it up after about 4pm., so they had it alllllll day. Get there and they tell me they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Also, that they couldn't find anything on the NLS system.
They say GM never made any such system and that they recommond I don't Drive my car like that. I'm soooo ******* pissed off. I'm going to dig up ANYTHING I can on the NLS system and take it back and push it into the service manager's face and tell him I don't like being treated like a ******* retard.
Any links would be awesome in my search for revenge on these *******.

They told me they couldn't find anything on it anywhere. The manual I got with the car is a 2007 manual. I should talk to the dealership I got it from about getting an 08 manual. I'm seriously pissed at the dealership I took it to.
Edit: i posted that after you posted haha well... if you want i may be able to photocopy you a copy of it if you want
tell them SI (service information) Doc# 2101893

No-Lift Upshift (SS Models)
If the vehicle has the 2.0L turbo engine and manual transmission, it has the capability of No-Lift Upshifts. This feature maximizes vehicle acceleration by allowing you to shift the transmission to a higher gear without taking your foot off the accelerator. No-Lift Upshifting is enabled in all Electronic Stability Control modes. See Electronic Stability Control (ESC) for more information. Use this feature only when the engine has reached normal operating temperature. Correct shifting allows the engine to maintain boost pressure during shifts, while also keeping the engine from over-revving.
To utilize this feature:
Accelerate the vehicle by fully depressing the accelerator pedal.
Just prior to reaching the maximum engine speed, quickly complete the upshift utilizing the clutch while keeping the accelerator pedal fully applied. A quicker shift maneuver gives the best performance. If the engine is operated at the maximum engine speed for greater than one second, the engine exits the No-Lift Upshift mode and resumes normal engine overspeed protection.

"I’m Not Going to Break It, Am I?
Rocketing to the top end is a ridiculous amount of fun in the new SS, thanks to the standard launch control and no-lift shift functions, which are also found on the less hard-core, pudgier HHR SS. Both are fairly violent events, and not lifting off the gas when you shift feels, well, ludicrous. No-lift shifts, though, coax such sweet burbles and gunfire pops from the exhaust that you just have to do them all the time. From a stop sign? No-lift shift. Getting onto the freeway? No-lift shift. In the produce section at the grocery store? Yup, no-lift shift. "
i love that last part. lmao!

There's pics in there of the pages in the 09' SS/TC manual which explicitly explain the NLS and launch control functions. Tell the dealership to source a manual from an 09' SS/TC, the 08s only came with an insert.

Yeah, that's what Force linked looks like. I've got them saved to my comp already along with a few links for car reviews on youtube and written articles too. You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the help!!!
Almost nothing pisses me off more than someone not knowing the product they are dealing with. It's not like Chev has that many models...
last time I walked into a stealership pissed off I walked out with a brand new car for CHEAP. Then I sold that car to my GF and got my SS >.> Even got the SS for way cheaper than the sticker price they had on it ^-^
I'll be going in tomorrow. So an update will be made when I get back from the stealership.

I love how ignorant dealerships are ha ha. For example..when I was buying mine...they had a bunch of these SS's lined up and none of them had the stickers on them (Wind damaged vehicles from Pat O'Brien). I was told that they were all FULLY LOADED. Bought the car, took it home, and was getting some of the paperwork out from under the seat and there was the window sticker...Sunroof and all the goodies but...NO LSD!! I was PISSED because by the time I got home and found the sticker the dealership was closed. I went back up there the next day and told the guy either they put a LSD on this one or give me a different car with an LSD. His response was "I don't think these models offer a Limited Slip, I've never heard of them having that, they have traction control are you sure that's not what you have it confused with?" I didn't even know what to say to him at that point. So I went out to one of the other cars hoping to find the sticker under its seat as well...sure enough I found one with the LSD option...needless to say he was baffled and I now have a LSD
...It just made me mad that he wouldn't even check into it and just immediately made me feel like an idiot. Ah how the tables turned.
Only time I NLS is when I'm at the drag strip. Nothing better than trying to go from first to second and getting a krrrrrrrt as you grind 2nd gear cause it wont go in. But the dealership won't look at it cause NLS doesn't exist -_- Retards.
So, anyway... Just got back from the stealership. Showed all the reviews to them AND the SI code. And they were baffled. They couldn't figure out WHY GM would do such a thing. Went for a cruise with the tech I drove, ground my gears. He drove ground the gears and got it to NLS. He thinks it's just my timing and that I should, "Go practice at the track, where it's legal. But you didn't hear me say that." They said that if the synchroids or gear start to wear down that warrenty will cover it. BUT if I crack my bellhousing like that TSB states, GM won't pay a dime on it. SOOO.... I'll just work on my shifting a bit more than I already do.
Thank's for ALL the help guys.
On the upside, Muffler delete tomorrow!
