30k service on 2.4
30k service on 2.4
Well im getting close to hittin that mark on my 06 2.4 at 27k and i got the email from gm saying that i should come in for it. for people that do their own work what should this include, and wut does gm usually do? i have full bolt ons and tuning at the moment so i dont see anything in that area being touched really, plus im buying the zzp turbo kit within the next 1.5 months so wut should i be looking to do? fuel filter or something?
I rotated my tires back in feb but im looking at getting a full set of those after i get the turbo kit, as well as slotted rotors and hawk pads. should i do any flushes?
i ask because this is the first car ive earned from the beginning and i want to make sure i take care of it just as much.

yea i havent either, but id like to take care of wutever i can myself. i dont trust myself with anyflushes but if theyre recommended i dont see why not.. my club leader is a gm tech anyway and he actually does the work we get done if we go there. i just cant get a response from him on wut they do.
lmao it sat for 4 months.. after i graduate im picking up a dd and a bike so itll slow down alot more. i should be fully rebuilt fully painted before i hit 50k... fingers crossed.

Taking your car in to the dealership for a 30K checkup is a waste of money. All they are going to do is change oil, rotate tires, change fuel filter, check the brakes and check the coolant. I'm sure there are some other BS items in there that they will claim to check, but it is mostly just to get you to come pay them money.
What you should do (at your next oil change, it doesn't have to be done right at 30K):
oil change
rotate tires (if you follow the DIC for oil changes you should rotate the tires at every oil change)
change fuel filter
check fluid levels
I don't know exactly what GM recommends for auto tranny fluid changes, but you really can't do it too often. I would say that 32K is probably a pretty good point to have it done. It is like $150 or $200 but definately worth it to save the tranny. If you have a manual tranny GM says filled for life, but I would probably change it around 50K or so.

I had the tranny service done and I thought it was great. I got less than 40k on my Cobalt, but there was one previous owner. GM does this service different than most. They have a machine they hook up to your tranny that actually transfuses the transmission fluild, rather than just dropping a pan and letting the tranny drain. Plus they add some sort of friction modifier (I cant remember the name), that is GM reccomended.
