Twin Supercharger.....?

I've been hearing from an individual from the dealer that GM is trying out plans to have two blot on supercharger on to the Ecotec 2.0 engine. From where he said whre the supercahrger is now, is to have another one on the opposite side of the engine. Is this true...? Has anyone heard about this being planned.....?

What's the purpose? Twin turbos work b/c they spool faster... twin S/C... nah... would just eat more power off of the engine... I can't see that being worth it.

Nope, dont even know if this is possible.... I know the benefits of Twin turbo, and a supercharger and a turbo, but dont see the benefit of 2 SC's....

I was thinkin someone should do that! have the roots supercharger in regular position, and have a cetrifugal supercharger (vortec or procharger) on the front of the engine with the belt system and feed the roots blower with the centrifugal blower! You could make insane boost with that and use fairly large pulleys to reduce parasitic drag! I seriously think it could work, it would be twin charging it without all the header and exhaust modifications a turbo would need!

Hmmm,

F=MA

Force = Mass X Acceleration

Even if you have two slower pulleys and not one fast one, you are still turning more rotational mass because you have "TWO" superchargers. The One Roots blower has mass and drag, but now, you actually think that turning a second SC will "Reduce" the drag on the motor?? WTF?

First off I cant beleive how you could hear this and think it remotly plausable for our cars and make a thread about it.

second to the people who think that twin supercharging hasn't been done or is silly have a look into this

Umm, Well then rather than saying...

"I Heard that GM is coming out with a Twin Charger Stage for the Cobalt"

Why not say...

"Is there any benifit of Twin Supercharging or would it be just as good if not better to change the pulley for $30.00?"

Well, for those that believe that i ask a dumd question anyways most likely had a dumd responce,...Maybe i didn't get too much details from the dealer,...perhaps he was refering to the twin charged....???..i dont know,....sorry for trying to learn something new with negative feedback....

BTW, never say never, although its hard to believe....it has been done to quite a few engines,.....
