I have been trying to find 1 step colder plugs for my 2.2. I have a full garrett kit and I ordered 1 step colder plugs from ottp but they failed to mention they were for an ss/sc. I tried to contact ottp but no call back. So I got screwed on some spark plugs. THey are in the car now and I get a rough start up when the car is cold obviously b/c the plug threads are too short and not the correct heat range at all.

I need to know the best place to get 1 step colder plugs to use for my turbo set up.

NGK LTR6IX-11 are the same size as stock but one step colder

they are iridium though so may run you a little more $$$ than copper plugs would

get those s/c plugs out of there! run your stockers till you get the right ones...

 

I believe they ran about $9ish per plug. Just bought the 7IX's today Pricey Bastards....

wait, so the 1 step colder from OTTP are for the lsj's only and wont work for the 2.2???!!!

 

The BK7 plugs are for the LSJ. They are 2mm shorter then the LTR plugs. LTR6IX = 1 step, LTR7IX = 2 step colder. The higher the number, the colder they get. They also make a LTR5IX which is stock heat range.

IonNinja has used them before, and they work ok, but I wouldnt recommend it because they are shorter then stock.

Being shorter is better than being longer...

Really, if they are shorter, you shouldnt notice any problems...

 

The LTR's are same as stock, the BK's are 2mm shorter. Id stick with stock length IMO.

 

I'm running stock iridium's at the moment and have no issues. I'm only running about 7psi though, so...

 

i gave u the part # like 3 times :p man get those out of there, i could of told u OTTP was going to get you the wrong one, i got mine from aaron@TTR<<<great customer service and fast shipping, and dont expect OTTP to do anything about it, they sold u the LSJ plugs knowing they were not for a l61

u can cross reference the NGK plug to find a cooper alternative, autozone can do this

 

tried talking with ttr and first I got ltr7's are i step colder then I was told ltr6's are one step colder.

LTR5IX-11 = Stock heat range
LTR6IX-11 = 1 step colder
LTR7IX-11 = 2 step colder

That is the correct information, taken from NGK.

 

So are you having issues or do you just assume the stock plugs won't be good for you? I know the theory behind a colder plug, but i wouldn't even change them out until it becomes an issue...

5 is stock, 6 is one step colder, 7 is 2 steps colder...PM aaron to order the parts, and just try and sell those plugs on the classifieds to make some of your money back, i dont think ottp will take them back since they are used now

At what mileage did you ditch the stock AC Delco plugs?

 

I just rolled over 17k on my car today. 17004 to be exact right now. The motor has about 4k on it so its kinda irrelivant. I switched because I needed colder plugs for the power Im making. The stockers should do just fine for you.

 

NGK LFR6A-11 coppers have been good to me, I know a few other boosted le5's on here have run them as well. One step colder than stock and proper reach.
