245/40/18

I recently had a flat on my SS sedan and took it to the local to dealer to get a new tire, little did i realize that had replaced my 225/40/18 with a 245/40/18 tire, there mistake. i have since put another 245 on my car and now have 225s in the front and 245s at the back,I have had no problems at all with the rim and wider tires. My sedan looks real good now from the ass end with the wider meats!

wouldnt you want more traction on your drive wheels, not your rear wheels?

although 245's would look cool from behind. especially on a small car like the Cobalt

Only problem with 245s on the front is that they will probably rub if you turn all the way.

Yes, but it's not hurting anything in his case. How awesome would it be if the Cobalt were RWD? Very awesome...that's how awesome it would be.

Pics please! I was thinking of getting wider tires. Also, if you have a 245, wouldn't the height of the tire also increase slightly (a few millimeters)?

Yes 245/40/18 is 25.7 inches tall. 225/40/18 is 25.1 inches tall.

the stock size is 215/4518 right? if so then the difference in height would be .2 inches or 1% different

yeah, now you just need 235/40/18 in the front then you'l lbe rollin. of course makin the rear tires wider means your gonna have better traction in the rear which will inadvertantly give your car more of an understeer feel. Our cars from factory have an incredible understeer capability for FWD, so you might have just negated that. not that it matters, only thing is if you take a turn REAlly REALLy hard, your front end might try leaving the road and you'll have more stress on the ESC which means your pads in the front will wear quicker? anyone following my ranting? lol.

I'd probably get 235 front and back. or if I had 245s in the back, i'd under inflate them just a little.

Do you think 235/40/18 would rub in the front? I want to be able to rotate the tires so putting 245 only on the back won't work.

245s dont rub on a TC unless your really low or heavily loaded down. Several guys have them all the way around.
