Best Insurance Company rates?

hey guys i was just reading another thread about insurance prices on our cars. seen that theres quite a few people in my age range that have insurance in the $100-$150/mo range which is a little lower than mine ($185). just wondered what companies these low rates are through cause my policy with 21st Century Ins. expires in 2 weeks and i may change companies! thanks guys!

i'm sure progressive would be the cheapest but they would most likely like to put aftermarket junk on your new 08 09 but their cheap and pretty much would insure someone with 6 dui's

I've been with State Farm for just over 11 years, and they have consistently been the cheapest, for me.
I check every year or two, and before I picked up the TC, I checked Allstate, Geico, Progressive, and Nationwide, and State Farm still came out the lowest - mine is about $825/6mos in S. florida (I'm 41 btw). FYI, it's 100/300 coverage, stackable uninsured motorist, and roadside on the policies (50/100 is $4/mo less, 25/50 is $8/mo less - IMHO, ain't worth saving $8/mo to go from $100K/$300K coverage to $25K/$50K coverage - you NEVER know what happens...), so theoretically, I COULD go to probably $798/6mos, but I don't want to. I like the $100K/$300K, like what I have on the Forester lease (leases require $100K/$300K, for most leasing companies)

Now, when I had my 17yo son on it for the month we only had the TC (turned in both leases, and wife was trying to pick her car), the insurance skyrocketed to $1960 for 6mos!

Got her an '09 Subie Forester 2.5X Auto, and went to $1360 for wife+17yo son on that.

Dang it's expensive to insure teenage boys!!

I have had American Family for the last 16 years. However, I think they are midwest only company serving mostly Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota.

They might be in MI too though. I've been very pleased with them which is why I've never left.

They've always been there, hail damage, chipped windshields.

One time I had an hit and run by a 15 year old kid driving his dads car which wasn't insured. My car was in the parking lot and I wasn't in it. Thankfully someone else witnessed it and got the plate.
I paid the deductible. Some time passed but American Family got my money back to me from the offenders.

Every state, and every company all have different rates. Insurance is one of those things that you can endlessly shop around and almost always find a better rate. Where I am, the local Farm Bureau insurance is always the cheapest for me so far. Now this is NOT the brand name Farmer's Insurance. However, at one point Progressive was the cheapest for me, when I owned a Focus, an Accord, and my bike. For the Cobalt I went back to Farm Bureau because Progressive was astronomical with their rate for the 'balt.

Call everyone, don't believe Progressive's hype about them shopping around for you. Call all the places yourself, give them ALL the info (social, Vin # etc) to get an accurate quote.

a lot of insurance companies are cheap.......but if you make a claim, they will drop you in a heart beat

its best to look at the total package, not just the premium

besides, things like deductible and all the coverages included have to be tallied in...

I pay $108/month for mine(live in a place where insurance is relatively cheap) and have no doubt I COULD get it cheaper... But I have a $500 deductible and great coverage all around... free towing, car rental, etc...

and I know that in the event I have a wreck, my company won't be quick to drop me... hell, I don't even have close to a perfect driving record(no wrecks though), they never even "threatened" me(and I got close to losing my license due to points once).. of course, now, my record is in good shape(i'm 24 now) and next year, I expect that rate to drop substantially when I turn 25, it had better, or i'll shop around
