2.4 Throttle Body - USEFUL people only lol

ok folks.

so has anyone really been able to determine how much of a gain the 2.4 THROTTLE BODY yields after being attached to the 2.4 intake mani?

the last guesstimates were 5hp more, but I want something more than guesstimates.

so who's ran the 2.4 mani BEFORE adding the 2.4 TB? and what was the diff after? dyno would be nice.

I'd like to know too. Also I've heard it requires a tune, is this true?

for the TB yes benj, and although u don't gotta with the intake mani, it'll let ya actually get through your peak powerband without taggin redline lol. my peak power feels like it sits @ about 6600 at this point. and the power comes on more than previously from 3500 rpm onward.

i actually have to deal with some actually noticeable torque steer through the upper rpm's as well lol.

ok so back to the throttle body. c'mon people.

I've heard it requires a tune to be effective at all.

yes it does require a tune or retune in my case. i tried to test it with yzrider and we made some good progress through 1st and 2nd and limped her in third. we got two 1-2 pulls before she fell flat on her face.

Yelp... too much air and it will lean out...so the computer resorts to limp mode... I say that a tune would correct this problem... I just wonder if someone were to port and polish a 2.4TB and add one size bigger injectors, what kinda gains would that yeild???

I'm currently trying to find a 2.4 TB to mount on my 2.4 Intake Manifold but I can't find one. So as soon as I do I ll let everyone know what I think. But theres also a twist to mine. I heard this from another member on this forum and I figured I would try this myself, you can purchase a JET MAF "canned tune" and it'll allow you to run the 2.4 TB without going into limp mode so since I already have said JET MAF I m going to see if it works. I will be informing everybody here https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/showthread.php?t=160391

stock lsj injectors coupled with the 2.4 TB on a car with the 2.4 mani and a nice re-tune should give you a noticeable gain ~(5-10hp). More air requires more fuel, but the stock injectors maybe be able to be pushed a little farther with a tune, I'm not sure though.. contact Vince he can probably help you out. I don't think the JET chip is the best route to go, data logging is not the best but still better than a canned tune.

i was under the impression that a n/a 2.2 without cams would have a very hard time maxing out stock injectors?

if it turns out i want to get a 2.4tb and someone says that the injectors are useful i will def pick them up.

that's definitely possible. I'd ask NWAE i can't imagine he's still on the stock injectors, I think he may have had the 2.4TB before he installed his cams.

The Jet MAF just allows the computer to adjust for alittle more air flow. Its not even a canned tune.. its a re calibrated sensor... Trifecta tunes are canned tunes...
I would recommend a dyno tune over anything, but I know that we all dont have resources for a dyno tune.. I have to travel 200 miles for a good one..

Your probably right it probably isn't the best route to go, I really think getting Trifecta tuned would be best route to go but I already had purchased the JET MAF so I figured that I would give the 2.4 TB swap a shot and see what happens. But I m gonna agree with you and say about a 5HP gain.

From my understanding he is on the LSJ injectors

NWAE is on LSJ injectors.

But NA 2.2's shouldn't be maxing out injectors with this bolt on stuff

the 2.4 does require a tune, i=when coupled with the manifold some people have got it to run, but i would not try it without a tune, i have one and its ported and polished but im waiting until i can afford a tune, and the rest of my mods i wanna do. so i would stick with pnp'd 2.2 tb until you get your full bolt ons and tune.
