Lets see some pic's of 245's on stock SS/TC wheels

Am contemplating selling the 225 to a buddy with an SS/SC and getting some wider shoes. Lemme see um!

Update: New to site and found a wheel and tire section. Please move to proper section. Thanks

Bfg kdw 2 245/40/18

I am currently running 245/40/18 BFG KDW 2's on my stock SS/TC wheels. I have had no issues with them rubbing. There great, big improvement over the stock 225's.

Here is a link to the pics

Unfortunately I do not, I don't think my car could handle much bigger tires because of how low it is in the front. I could be wrong though! Anyone care to correct me?

You'll rub in the back before the front.

I already have enough strange noises, so I'm keeping the regular sized ones!! lol I just need new ones they're wearing and I think one's going flat.

I posted a thread about this when I was interested in purchasing my 245/40/18's. I'm on stock suspension with no issues but I know that doesn't help you out...

hmm I like the idea of wider tires. Hows the fit in the wheel well? I dont mean does it rub, I mean do they hang out at all? I just dont want to be kicking road debris all over my body.

I my opinion they look sexy. I love an over sized tire on a rim, they look mean. As far as hanging out I wouldn't say they hang out to bad. With the stock 225's living in the mid west I had problems with them kicking up road debris. So as far as the 245's nothing really worse than I was experiencing before.

245/35/18s will fit they are 0.2 inches smaller than the stock size but much wider.

if thats true, then your looking at worse gas mileage. why wouldn't 245/40/18 work? your wheels will be about 0.7 in. bigger than stock i believe. thats not that bad. I think the issue is steering will rub the inside tire on the wheel well

Yoink! http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html <---answer to tire size problem a. now tire size problem b would be effects on turing radius. Lol, 255/35/18 would be perfect!

Also note that if you are lowered then if you hit bumps or have a full load in your car and wheel size is greater, you might run into rubbing issues.

If you're on stock suspension and plan on staying that way, I would go 245/40's since this is what I run on my car as stated earlier and have no issue's what-so-ever. BUT if you plan on lowering the car, I'd probably stick with 235/40's or the stock tire size.

09 ss t/c Lsd rpd as factory stock. 2600 miles now.

threw stock 225-40 contisport 2 in trash at 1,000 miles. too greasy/old tyre tech for desert climate.

upgraded to goodyear Asymmetric: 245-35-18 on stock wheels.
$1K usd is cheap insurance-throw the $40 helmet away for the $1,000 helmet.
these tyres are lightweight for the unsprung weight crowd..
xlnt confidence: coefficient of friction/handling dynamics. very fast turn-in too.
newer tyre tech than michelin PS2

Yeah you'll have that... when I first posted about putting 245/40's on my SS/TC's wheels I had people that flamed me. Who were not even running 245/40's and had no proof that they would or wouldn't work just people that love to say that they know what there talking about with no proof to back it up...

This thread has been down for a bit so I thought I would bring it back up to see what peoples thoughts are on the 245's now. I would also like to know if anyone has a pic from the front looking down the side of the car with their 245's. My plan is to get the 245/40-18 for a few reasons. 1-I don't ever plan on lowering this car, 2-I need all the grip I can get. 3-They are cheaper than the 235's. So what are people thoughts that have ran this size tire.

henry, those tires look sick. I love those BFs. That's what I'm going with the next time I have to buy tires.

With these tires I rubbed on the back when I was lowered on Progress springs. Since then I've changed to Pedders and no more rubbing. These are 235's
