Stock floor mats tearing apart?

Has anyone had the same issue I'm having? I don't scrape my foot against the mat when I'm shifting, but it looks like in the less than 2 years I've been driving the car I've seemed to have worn a giant hole right through the floor mat.

That being said, what kind of crazy pimping floor mats should I look for? Hopefully it's just shoddy workmanship on the stock mats, should I get the modern performance SS mats or has anyone else seen some sweet mats? (It's my first performance upgrade, I hear new mats add 10HP minimum.)
