View Full Version : K&N SRI problems... Alexander.w 07-13-2009, 01:37 PM Has anyone had a problem with the rubber elbow on their intake... mine seems to not want to fit right... Dimitri Manesis 07-15-2009, 11:11 AM I had a big problem with it. When I put the 1" hose onto my hose coming from the pump, as instructed, it kinked my stock hose. What I did was cut the elbow off and putting a soft bend over the altenator. This was the only way I was able to keep my factory hose from kinking. I told K & N and they said they could not find a problem with it. You should call K & N and let them know. blackbolt89 07-15-2009, 11:53 AM OP is talking about the SAI? Alexander.w 07-15-2009, 06:42 PM i think he's refering to the other hose. ya i had the same problem.. i just cut mine to fit right... but i still cant get the elbow to fit. it keeps falling off. blackbolt89 07-15-2009, 06:47 PM this is interesting considering how many people said it fit perfectly. you guys are aware that the motor sits differently between automatic and manual? that may be the problem. thats one reason why there are transmission specific motor mounts and why stock LSJ downpipes don't fit automatics. Speedy McD 07-15-2009, 11:06 PM I installed my K&N Tycoon today and mine won't fit right!!! I do not have SRI so I pluged my hole. My problem is the metal housing (heat shield) is rubbing on the frame behind the light and motor making a squeeking you can hear inside. Anyone run into this? Dimitri Manesis 07-15-2009, 11:35 PM I had the same problem. Try swapping provided mounts. It will fit, it will just take some massaging. As far as the air pump, this is a pump that sucks air. If the hose is not perfect, it will burn up your pump. It won't throw a trouble light until it is burnt up.. Anyone run into this? i had the same problem.... i used a small piece of clear rubber tubing and put it between the body and the heat sheild. can hear a thiing now! Dimitri Manesis 07-17-2009, 04:46 PM I have already said something to K & N about this bad fit. I think everyone should as well. Speedy McD 07-19-2009, 03:50 PM I emailed K&N and they responded very quickly. They are sending me a new heat shield. I will update on the new fitment. Speedy McD 07-23-2009, 12:53 PM I got the new heat shield in last night and it was the exact same shield. Just for giggles I took the whole thing apart and put it back together with the new heat shield and had the same problem. I am talking to a guy at K&N to see if I can return it. I have never ran into this before and I have installed MANY of these! blackbolt89 07-23-2009, 01:39 PM OP do you have an automatic?... |
