Getting rid of my Cobalt...

Updated with Pics of the new G8 GT.

Trading it in on a White G8 GT. Should be picking it up tonight or tomorrow. With discounts and GMS pricing, I got about $6,900 off sticker. I'm getting $10,600 on trade for the cobalt.

It's been a good car but I just want something bigger, 4 doors and RWD. The G8 fits the bill perfectly.

For about a second I thought about going with the v6 to save a little money, then I snapped out of it. I was just patient and waited till I found the deal I wanted on a GT.

Should be picking it up tonight.

What is the situation with Pontiac right now? Are they going under?

I've heard that they're either going under or sticking around as a performance division and only producing the Solstice and the G8 GXP.

I've also heard that the G8 is turning into the Chevy Caprice, so it's anyone's guess at this point.

Pontiac is done. I think the only 2010 model will be the Vibe. Everything will still be covered by GM, just like oldsmobile when it went away.

In the original restructuring plan, Pontiac was to be a niche brand for performance vehicles.

Lutz said last week that the G8 would live on as a caprice. GM back pedaled a little after that and said they are exploring that option. I would love to see it live on as the same car they sell in the middle east, the Lumina SS. The Caprice is actually a longer wheelbase than the G8.

Unfortunately, I still didn't have the check from my credit union yesterday, so I'll have to wait till Thursday to pick up the car. The dealership isn't open late tonight. This has been the longest week of my life.

To clarify: Pontiac is a dead Marque. It will cease operations after the 2010 model year is done.

No, none of the current Pontiac lineup will be rebadged to continue under a different marque in the US. The G8 was only rumored to become the Caprice, but Bob Lutz immediately put that idea down whenever someone asked about it. The Solstice is also dead in the US (I'm not quite sure of the status of it in Europe where it is currently the Opel GT).
