sounds like brakes squealing

So while im driving it sounds like my brakes are squealing it started a while back and it would usually do it when i shifted i could hear them squeal but they dont squeal when i come to a stop. When i had my tires rotated i took a quick look at the brakes to see how worn they were and they still looked like they had a good bit of life on them. now when i am driving it sounds like its doing it all the time any ideas what this could be? anyone else having this problem?

Probably is in inside/inner brake pad on the backside of the rotor. Which did you check? On the outside of the rotor where the studs are or on the inside?

the outside by the studs since i was having my tires rotated they let me hang out in the bay and i just took a quick peak at them trying not to get in the way to bad. Isnt that a bad thing if the inside is wearing more then the outside i thought they were supposed to wear evenly?

no becasue some peoples calipers lock up and need to replace just the one side but check your calipers to see if they are messed up or maybe they lock up a little bit after you hit the brakes and then they release. i am no expert by anymeans but this has happened to me before so just speaking from experience. and i just ordered new crossed-drilled and slotted stoptech rotors from PFYC.com because i beleive mine are warped and my steering wheel shakes like a BITCH. so that should solve that problem. or wipe off the pad and rotor surface maybe its just dirty or something in there.

what would i look for on the calipers to see if they are messed up? When your rotors are warped they shake under braking right? Ill have to try cleaning them off to i think we got some brake cleaner around here somewhere well i guess i got something to do today along with washing the car thanks for the help

yeah if they warped and you hit the brakes your steering wheel will shake almost violently i mean its controllable and you shouldn't lose control. wouldnt it be funny if it was just dirty or a something else just stuck in there?? lol. and as far as telling if you have a bad caliper is if your apply brakes does it pull it one or the other??(signs of a sticking caliper) or are you going through pads like crazy??(premature brake wear) and i would assume you would see your car leaking brake fuild if you have too much?? and if you really feel need to and have the skill take off your caliper and play with the pistons. if one is harder or lighter than the other one to push down on then that is a good sign that it would be the caliper.

Generally a constant high-pitched squeal while driving is the wear indicator rubbing against the rotor. It tends to go away under breaking. It doesn't hurt anything - the sole purpose is to let you know to change your pads soon before the squeal becomes heavy grinding. Sometimes pads will wear unevenly - if it's not significant don't worry about it, but if you have 1 nearly full pad and one almost gone, I'd get your brake system inspected.

I've got 2000 miles on my car and the brakes just started to squeal when coming to a stop No hard braking, i live in the country so no stop and go traffic out here.

I'm generally easy on brakes . My 06 SS/SC had 30K on it and the brakes were never touched and were good . Before that i had a 95 Z28 that i bought new ....it went 90K + and i never touched on brake part...... nothing, Although they were starting to pulse when i sold it lol.

Some brake squeal is normal on the t/c - give it a few hard stops once in a while if you don't want to hear it, but it's not going to hurt anything.

Please let me know what the problem is when you figure it out. I have the same exact issue with my car. It started happening around 5k miles ago. I figured it was the breaks since I had about 30k on the car.
At first, I changed the serpentine belt figuring it only made the squeel under acceleration or switching gears but that didn't work. Then, I changed all 4 sets of pads even though they still had some meat left on them and also found that my rear passenger side caliper was seized. Took a little bit of elbow grease, but I fixed it and has been working fine ever since but the squeeling sound still remains.
I'm planning on changing the rotors in the next month or two and if that doesnt fix the problem I'm all out of ideas.
Only other thing I can think of is the CV joint, but I pray its not that.
