rough ride =/

i didnt know where to post this. and this has been bugging for a long time, just never had the time to go online and find a solution. i have been searching for an answer for almost an answer, so dont say i never searched.

my question is, is there something wrong with my cobalt or is it just how things are suppose to be.

it feels like my suspension is so rough!!! i feel every bump, hump, crack, everything. i feel every single bump on the FCKING road. it annoys me and i dont get what is wrong. are all ss/sc the same or is there a problem with mine.

i do have 225,45x18 hankook in the front. and i have 225,45x18 nexus in the back.

but they are just tires.

could it be that my suspension is shot and i need to buy a new one. because to me, it really annoys me when i drive in my friends cars, and when they hit a bump, its so smooth but when i hit that same bump, i feel like i just hit a ******* person.

Low pro's, sporty suspension, and expansion joints = good method of finding all the loose **** in your interior

so that has to be it. its not my suspension. its just cause i have low profiles. so what if i got the stock pirreli tires, will it be rough or better.

and also when i drive on the highway my steering wheel jiggles and when i press my brakes it jiggles alot. what could that be?

balance your tires and your rotors need to be replaced, there probably warped. I have went through this before and now its smooth

A 60 series tire will NEVER give you the same level of grip or feedback as a 40 series tire.....the higher sidewall that gives the softer ride will also want to roll under itself at high g loads and will feel mushier / less precise turning in.

Lowering springs and better shocks / struts will help a bunch but if the tire is not capable of handling the extra load the suspension can now deliver.........

Truth there - don't know why but the rotors on these cars are very prone to warping even when not abused.

im guessing you dont have a mircometer to measure which rotors are warped so either have a garage check them,or just replace them all(best bet) and as far as rotor cost it varies i bought these for my g5 and im very impressed with them over stock, and i would replace the pads since there most likely uneven too

Either that or go see about an alignment...if its off it will cause the steering wheel to shake pretty bad

Low profile tires give a harsher ride, the lower the harsher - end of story.

Take a ZR-1 for a ride - you will feel paint stripes on the road through the 335/25R-20 rears

Low profile tires = better handling * bad on road noise

Standard tires = hides road noise * not as good on handling.

Sorry to wake an old thread, but is there a happy medium? I ask becuase I often travel on some rough roads, and no amount of zigging between bumps can miss them all. I'm more concerned with not destroying my car. I want to make her last ya know.

Get some 17" wheels and run a 215-50-17 tire. You should be ok, just don't get a 225-50-17 if you are lowered. You will rub in the front.
