i would go with the meth( get a used kit) and wait around for a 3 in intake to pop up for a good price... that way u can spend ur money and get both for almost the cost of 1. But first i would say meth and tune definatly.. not for cooling purposes but just for the power aspect of adding 30+whp... intake maby on a tvs adds 10*ish* hp

stupid question. Since a CAI makes the supercharger whine more....will the whine change at all if u go from a 2.5" to a 3"?

if your maf is dialed in correctly then there should not be any idling issues. the only thing you need to change is the scalar. then re-calibrate the maf if you need to

on another note, the size of the stock tb is 62mm or 2.44" which is ideal for a 2.5" intake. the ls4 is 75mm or 3". so why would you get a 3" intake and choke it with a 2.5" tb?

320 with stock lsj tb and 3 inch intake: area47. good enuff for me but then i run a stock RL air box with K&N filter; works for a Trailblazer.

it doesnt matter. oh and recalibration of the MAF is not a simple task. IMHO There is no venturi effect, and port matching at that point does not matter. The tb needs enough air to draw on, this air to be accessed in an undisturbed and unimpeded state. If 3 inch provides undisturbed and unimpeded air for the induction side, pre pressure that is good. If the 2.5 provides disturbance or impeded air flow then a 3.0 would be better regardless of the tb size. imho.

that was my point.. if i got the 3 inch intake i would get the LS4 TB.. i didnt plan on running the stock TB with a 3inch intake

never said it was a simple task, john... but i do believe that anytime you change a part that has anything to do with airflow or VE of the engine, then you should make some changes to the tune to compensate for it - i.e. recalibrating the maf. bigger intake, bigger tb, smaller pulley, cams, exhaust.... etc. all should be taken into consideration on the tune.

that's an interesting thought on the 3" intake 2.5" tb and i see where you're coming from, but i don't know if we'd ever agree without some flow testing

i feel like a 3 inch intake and a 2.5 TB would bottle neck the air into the supercharger.. doesnt seem like it would flow as well..but i could be mistaken..Area did make damn good numbers on the K&N from my readings
