no air filter installed... wow.

today i went to install my injen intake... and what was about to happen never crossed my mind..

(how it started)
i had GM replace the MAF under warrenty a few months back and trans for 2nd gear.
the dealer had it for 2 and a 1/2 months waiting on parts..
they gave me crap about cutting some of my stock intake saying i was the cause of the damage to the MAF when i knew there was no was i was at fault because it was the connecter that was bad.
before this i put in a brand new K&N filter that had maybe 1000 miles on it.
i finally get the car back after waiting for so long i didnt think much of it to over look their work. well today.. i regret not looking..

MISSING PARTS...
4 bolts holding the plastic around the fender
1 bolt holding the intake in place
1 AIR FILTER!

as i am taking off the plastic fender sheild rocks are falling out and im just thinking to myself "oh im glad i got that new filter"..... to wtf "wheres it at"

now.. ive driven 10,000 miles.. at least without a filter... i call the dealer demanding to talk to manager. he finally calls back..

convo shortened up.
me- hey ah a few months back you guys replaced the MAF and today i went to check everything out and i found out that you guys did not reinstall my air filter..

him- oh i doubt that.. dont you have a aftermarket intake anyway?

me- no.. its a stock mod's one.

him- oh i remember that car well your filter probably fell out because of the way you mod'd that.

me- ah sir theres no way it could just "fall out" its completely enclosed and has a clamp to tighten to the intake.

(fight a little more.. told him all the missing parts)

him- well we left the intake the way you brought it to us and all those parts were already missing.

(pissed off at this point)
me- theres no ******* way the filter could just fall out onto the road and no i did not lose any parts. and i obviously know how to work on cars because youve personally seen my other car.

him- well if you want to play ******* games well play games. youve fucked that car up so much..
(i stopped him before he could say more)
me- are you serious right now? you know what fine. ill find another dealer, call gm tell them what i think of you and your shop and let them know how you didnt fix my car.

then hung up.

i honestly could not believe a dealer manager would act like that. it just makes me want to get rid of this car and buy the audi S4 i wanted. ugh.

/rant.

GM Customer support line FTW! Call them and then they'll call him and teach him about customer service.

Lesson for everyone.
When confronted with a situation like this think ahead and record the conversation for evidence later on.

This sort of b/s is exactly why GM had to be bailed out by Government. My "stealership" gave me nothing but hassles over the tiny problems I did have during warranty.
Personally I'd had preferred they didn't get bailed out...they did it to themselves.
Lesson learned from my side...won't be buying my next vehicle from them.

The next make/model/dealer may not be any better....BUT I won't allow them to do it to me again now that I know how their so-called service is.
Oh ya...and when I am in there and a sales person approaches me...I like to say loudly enough for other potential customers to hear, that "Oh no don't waste your breath, I won't be making the mistake of buying here again."

So shitty customer service at a dealership is GM's fault?? Explain that one please. GM does not own or operate ANY dealerships. Each is owned privately and operated separately from GM. Now yes they have to meet certain rules and guidelines by GM in order to keep their franchise contract but blaming GM for a dealerships customer service is ridiculous.

When i got my car it was air box modded and the filter had fallen off and was rolling around in the inner fender.. no way your filter could've gotten out. My car's fine 60k miles later though after running w/o filter.. so hopefully no harm was done to yours

Everytime my car was in for service, I got a survey questionnaire FROM GM. Negative comments were never followed up on ONCE. So if the surveys mean nothing and go nowhere, don't bother me with them. GM ABSOLUTELY has a responsibility to ensure that the places that represent it's name are doing the right thing. Surprise surprise surprise good customer service results in repeat purchasers and referrals. GM has brought it's sad sales results upon itself.

The worst part of it is that the products are pretty good. No one expects a perfect product...there will always be problems. It's how those problems are handled that is the key.
These forums are overflowing with negative service and warranty issues.

This car is my 5th new vehicle, and my last GM product.

Exactly. I would have recorded the conversation and showed the owner how he handles confrontational situations, then how he treats his customers when he gets upset, thus causing him to lose his job.

Man, just hearing this makes me want to go to that place and kick that dude square in the ****.

i had a dealership damage all 4 of my rims when they put new tires on my car. my car has never seen winter nor is it been abused. they called the damaged rims normal wear and tear. I went ape **** on them and brought in photos to prove what they did to my car was their fault. well, needless to see they never fixed my rims, but lets just say they are no longer in business do to numerous complaints.

on a good note my rims are perfect after i buffed and polished them !!

anytime you bring your car to a dealer take photos of the area they will be working on. make sure the date and time is on the photo (digital cameras work wonders). if you see anything wrong you will at least have photographic eveidence to back yourself up
