Thumbs up Calculating Actual Power Made. Challenge me! lol

Hey guys, I just made a pretty neat lil spread sheet for calculating mustang dyno hp, interceptor calculated hp, pretty much anything that measures hp, I should be able to plug into this excel spreadsheet and find what the hp is at the wheels, or the hp is at the crank.

All I need is your stock calculated number you got, im going to assume the true wheel hp is between 238-240whp, and crank hp is 260. Also need you calculated hp number you got after a tune or aftermarket part added.

then I just plug the stuff into my sheet and wah-la I can find your actual hp gain in whp or crank hp. Let me know if you guys are interested in finding this out or at least seeing how accurate my math is

on top of this, I can compared hp gains between different cars on different methods of measurements and see if they make similar hp or who's car makes more hp with that modification since im basing everyone off the same stock hp number! this will be fun if it catches on

Interesting. The last car I tuned was making 228 hp before according to the Interceptor and 282 whp after I tuned it. What does that equate to?

, try putting in 238 for true stock whp/hp in that spread sheet i sent you, im pretty sure that average is around there for stock t/c's whp.... and leave your calculated data the way it is, see what your wheel hp is.


Hey, Terminator, does that sound about right for crank hp gain?

right leave 228 number where it is, change the 260 number to 238. 260 crank hp is equivalent to about 238 at the wheels. then the number you get is your true wheel hp gains.

lol fixed again, stop editing your old posts! the 61 hp gain was at the crank the 56hp gain was at the wheels!

here is at the crank- 321.58 + 61.58

here is at the wheels - 294.37 + 56.37

no more changing i swear

Well. My car made 53 whp and 80 wtrq over stock. Drewbroo's car made 50 whp 65 wrtq over stock on 91 octane. Sounds about right to me.

according to BTF, we can use the VE airflow (lbs/min) PID on HPT to estimate WHP, just add a zero to the measurement. It may be slightly low for FWD guys though, say by about 3-5%

It's cool because he owns a dyno and probably has the most runs under his belt of any kappa out there.

Airflow can be used as a rough estimate only because if someone is running 0.84 lambda and another is running 0.88 lambda the car running 0.88 will make more power if airflow is the same and sometimes even if airflow is higher on the car runnng 0.84.

Shibito those whp numbers are most likely correct. 238 is the number I used for stock wheelp hp, so putting that into my spread sheet will only result in the same answer however, from the stock crank hp....

you have a 52.44 hp gain at a crank hp of 312.44 hp.

sorry I didnt repsond right away. I thought this thread died, lol.
Yesterday I worked from 7am to 11pm. somewhere in the middle of that I installed my friends invidia 3" exhaust on his wrx. Thats was a good 1.5 hours are harsh labor

The way I heard it was calculated off your MAF lbs/min, and you multiplied by 10.5, and that would give you your crank hp. Basically, if you multiply the VE by 10.5, you should be right on with the MAF readings, but the VE would give you the number at the wheels rather than crank.

For instance, my MAF lb/min is around 30, so multiply by 10.5 is 315, account for drivline loss of 10% and you get 283. And my VE is right around 26 so multiply by 10.5, and thats 273. Pretty close IMO. I blieve I make more than 273 though, lol.

Cuda, my IPOD says I made 360 hp once... what does that equate to? Lol jk jk!!!

I couldnt calculate that , it would have to be an average of multiple runs all within 5% calculated hp of each other for it to be accurate. Plus you need a base calculated hp. IF you get a new part installed and want to know how much more hp your making, this table should definately be able to figure that out as well!
