P0171 solutions

my car has had the P0171 code for over a year....the dealership says its my STAGE 2 but they arent 100% what would be the best way for me to go about figureing it out....they want $1000 to fix it and the kit and instalation didnt even cost that much......so some insit with those of you who have delt with this would be great

do you have any other mods besides stage 2??? an aftermarket intake, or even the airbox mod can cause that code. check for vacuum leaks, make sure the clamps on your intake pipe are tight. basicly any leak you have after the mass airflow sensor could be the cause.

next question, did gm install your kit, and does your car still have factory powertrain warrenty (under 5 years 60k miles)??? if so, the gm stage 2 kit does not in any way void your warrenty if it was installed at a dealer, so they have to fix it under warrenty.

Theres a new reflash for the 05/06 STG2 cars, to cure random P0171s.

$1000 and they arent sure? thats odd.

It's probably your fuel trims out of whack. I would get the dealership to re-flash a newer stage 2 tune to your car and see if that cures the problem. If not, I HIGHLY recommend getting retuned by someone with hptuners. Dealership tunes suck and dropping a grand on something that may or may not fix it, is NOT worth it.

And yes, stage 2 is covered under warranty. Also this is something that should be covered under warranty. Either way, it's a quick and simple fix for someone with hptuners.

Yeah, since the stage 2 is an accesory it only gets 12/12 unless it was installed at time of vehicle purchase.
