is this important? (vac line)

i found this line just dangling loosely in my engine compartment.... it looks like it goes between the solenoid type thing on top of the intake manifold, and what appears to have at one time been a nipple on my charge pipe...

what all would be effected by this? apart from the major vac leak making the engine run like poop. Like what is the purpose of this line?

below are some pics....

i believe it is the line coming out the back towards the engine....

and i would assume it goes to the place on the charge pipe here that appears to be missing a nipple...

I think that sensor next to the broken nipple is the TMAP sensor, isn't it? I don't know what that source tubing is for, though.

That is your map sensor nipple that is broken as well as the feed to the map from the cold pipe. It is important. Bring it to the dealer and have it fixed.

OH I KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS!!!!

I had this too. get it replaced right away. the whole charge tube needs to be replaced. that vacuum line registers voltage for the AFR. If its not connected and not seeing any boost, your AFRs will be crazy then your turbo will try spooling to 15psi but never quite make it and fall.

When I did my charge pipes, I forgot to connect this at first and I got wacky AFRs myself. Popped the hood again, saw my goof up sitting right there, connected it, and no problems after that.

i agree, get it fixed. but, it is for the BPV. it gives the ECU more control of its opening and closing. if its disconnected at the chargepipe, the solenoid to the BPV cant function properly (affecting AFR and not boosting properly or at all). it will prolly stay open more than it should. plus you will have a vac leak (affecting AFR) at the charge pipe. the solstice guys have been capping off the charge pipe and running the BPV directly to the intake manifold. bypassing thte solenoid aswell. with mixed results

ive tried it. MY car ran exactly the same bypassing the solenoid and stock. mpg same aswell. so i put it back to stock cuz it acts as another safety.

Well when you see it, you kinda dont think its too important, its really small. I could not figure out what was wrong with my car for the longest time till I started tugging on stuff and noticed that line wasnt even connected. Your boost will go crazy in 4th and 5th gear, trust me. give it a try. Floor it in 5th gear at around 3000 rpms.
