I'm trying to gather some consumer feedback. If you've upgraded your clutch, please post up what you paid and let everyone know about your driving experience on the new setup. Thanks!

Honest question:

How do you know your clutch is slipping? I hear it "Swish" when I no lift shift, but thats it.
Thanks

swish is your bypass valve

you put it in 5th gear at a low speed and floor it, easiest way to tell. if your car hesitates during acceleration you slipping. Usually the rpms will rise suddenly upon hesitation and then the clutch will catch and the rpms will go back to their proper place. A really bad clutch/ or a really good tune lol, will result in the rpms skyrocketing but the car not going anywhere while in gear and a nice smell

How does it drive? Any chatter? Seem to be holding well? Difference in pedal pressure? Anything else you can tell us about it that you like/don't like?

Werd. Mine slips. When I hit boost (3K RPMs), the RPMs spike up to 3500~4000 for a split second until the clutch grabs, and then they settle back in at 3200~3400. This happens in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. 1st and 2nd doesn't have enough traction or it would do it there as well.

it drives great, in the pedal it is a lil bit stiffer, the first day i had it back with all teh new mods and clutch in it i drove it 8 hours straight and the next day my clutch leg was sore as hell... now i am used to it... i like it, it grabs really hard, doesnt ever slip, but then again its not an instant engage deal.. driving through traffic is a pain in the ass but not too bad... overall, i love it... cruising around town you dont really even ahve to push it in all the way and you can easily get the nest gear, downshifting is super smooth, i always double clutch comin down with a rev to keeo it smooth. it will jerk the hell outta you if you are one of those guys that just clutches, puts it in the next lower gear and just rides the clutch out... good way to burn up any clutch... its an awesome clutch...

No thread jacking! Especially not in reference to that car...no offense...but it usually stirs up bad blood.

How are people really slipping their clutch this early? Even tuned guys shouldnt be slipping, unless they are ALWAYS aggressive on the throttle. There are many ways to test your clutch out.

1.Put it in 4th doing about 20MPH. If it acts like it wants to stall, youre good.
2.Try taking off from dead stop in 4th, if it stalls youre good.
3.Go up a steep hill in 4th, if it acts like it wants to stall, youre good.
4.Go WOT in 4th at a low RPM, and if the tach doesnt jump up then settle back, youre good.

Sometimes clutches can get "glazed". Mine does this when I go very easy on the clutch and drive alot of highway miles. When I go WOT after this, it feels like it slips, but once I warm the clutch up, its fine.

Do not try any of these techniques more than 2-3 times in a a row, and do not consistently try these techniques. You can damage your clutch by doing so. I always try #2 every time I buy a used car, just to see if it slips.

Why would mention of a Spec clutch end the thread? I've never been impressed by them.

We have to do what it takes to go fast. We find weak links and come up with solutions along the way.

Are you really asking a speed shop what they're going to do when **** breaks? How do you think they come up with products to sell?

derka derka... well im sorry i went above your thinking level. I no they are going to rebuild the transmission, but is it going to be back to stock specs? beefed up? if so how are they going about it? is it going to be something they offer? And to answer your last question, i don't have all the knowledge of this forum but im pretty sure no one is offering a built transmission for our cars, so you think ZZP will be the first? if not than why did you ask that???

We are working on some trans mods, but it could be awhile before we have anything available.

Im a novice to transmissions but it seems like a very small market (unprofitable???) of people wanting to buy internally upgraded parts with all the labor of dropping and tearing into the transmission. What kind of things can be done without tearing into the transmission to beef it up to handle the punishment?

There wouldn't be much you could do externally.

Only one downsided to a aftermarket clutch upgrade: You lose the no-lift shift capability as the clutch requires a much longer pedal travel for engagement ( nearly to the floor) while the no-lift requires just a mere 2 inch tap for gear changes with the stock clutch..... I've tried the Spec stg 3 and the Clutchmasters stg 3!!! they both suck!!! require the pedal to be near the floor for both engagement an d disengagement.... and when near high RPM such as anything over 6000 rpm, the clutch seems like it's locked out from going into gear... Both of these clutches SLOWED my car down from high 12's in the 1\4 to high 13's at best....

I get grinding from 1-2 and 2-3 rd after the clutch is warmed and at any rpm above 2500 up too... When it's cold, it shifts great but I'm going back to stock clutch so I can have my No-Lift shifts back

Transmissions will last 70% longer if slicks are used as slicks grip Right Now! unlike Drag radials and street tires that slip and cause slipage, wheel hop and such... No wheel hop and tire spinning and your golden .... up to a point, generally in terms of absolute hp ....
