Exhaust-Not the typical question

Everybody asks whats the best exhaust for performance, but for me, i would like to know whats the best exhaust for power without making my car sound like a ricer/tuner. Its a 2.4 N/S and i plan on getting a K&N CAI, but as of now it is stock.

performance and power are basically the same thing. I have the GMPP full exhaust but a lot of people like the ARK.

I would hit up youtube to give you an idea of what to expect.. thats probably the best way to determine short of going to listen to a car with it on IRL..

You will net the same amount of power for all exhaust. But some are louder than others. If you want to annouce yourself from 3 blocks away look for Megan Racing, ARK or SLP exhaust. GMMP, Magnaflow, Borla sound best on our cars imo. Souds deep and aggressive, not ricey at all. There are tons of clips on youtube with different header/dp combos as well.

You won't get much of anything out of an exhaust

you're not the first to ask what the best sounding exhaust is.... search harder! lol
btw, just about every "which catbacvk gives me the most power" thread has discussions on how they sound as well

If I were to go bak, I would have never wasted $720 on my magnaflow catback. Performance wise it didnt do anything for my car although it does sound pretty good. If I were you I wouldent waste $500 plus on a catbak exhaust. If you want sound, just cut off the stock muffler and put a magnaflow or flowmaster muffler in its place. It will cost you $100 instead of $500 plus.

its generally accepted on here that the vibrant is not a very good sounding exhaust unless you're turbocharged....

i've always said vibrant is very high quality, but I can't stand the way it sounds. especially the header/dp combo.

the thing with exhaust is that it's subjective. If there was one "best" exhaust, everyone would have the same exhaust. For the 2.0 I think the best is the magnaflow. For the 2.2/2.4, I think the gmpp is great and will fit what you're looking for. There's 2 versions, I forget which one is louder and which one is quieter.

i have a vibrant, but not the 3". its 2 3/8"

everyone who hears my car always comments positively on the sound.

im not sticking up for vibrant in general, because i havent heard the 3" on an ss/sc, but on a 2.2/2.4, th 2 3/8" sounds pretty damn good.

Click the link in my sig. Since you what sound then it is all about what you like, the one thing you need to think about is how loud you want it. Vibrant, ark, and slp Are loud. I have the dt-s from ark it's loud but people have only said good things

First of all, I have an 08 with K&N, and you will be surprised at how loud the intake noise can be. I also removed all of the silencer assembly from the wheel well a couple of months later. I may be crazy, but I swear that made a difference as well. The only conclusion I can come to is that the intake is also now drawing colder air through the (now open,) intake opening to the wheel well.

The real exhaust power increase seems to be linked to the downpipe. The cheapest, exhaust mod giving the best results IMO is to simply bolt up a LSJ downpipe. I have the LSJ on mine, (with stock catback,) and was very impressed with the power increase.

I think the combination of the K&N intake plus LSJ downpipe is one of the best "bang for your buck" mods you can do on a 2.4

Dave7417, I completely agree with you. I picked up the most gains from my DP, the stock 2.4 DP seems to be very restrictive. Honestley if I were to go back and mod again I would have just bought a really high qualitly stainless DP and custom made an intake. Just my .02
