DeNooyer Chevy of Colonie, NY *MUST READ

Heres the start, took my car in for service for brakes, ac blower, and turn signal switch. No appointment but they did it all in a couple hours under warranty. That already earns them as my best dealership. Heres the kicker, they just started "DeNooyer Performance Division" and on the show room floor are 2 built camaros, and 1 built ZR-1. One Camaro had a Magnacharger on it, the other a 7.0L LS-7. The ZR-1 was composed of a smaller pulley, and re-calibration. All work was done by RedLine Motorsports http://www.redline-motorsports.net/. It gets better, those three cars are covered under a 3YR/36,000 mile limited power train warranty offered by Denooyer. DeNooyer is the ONE dealership in the world offering this. Dyno sheets will be emailed to me shortly, but as best as my memory serves, the supercharged camaro was about 600hp/630tq, the 7.0l was 600hp/600tq, and the ZR-1 was 700hp. Prices are MSRP plus cost to modify, no markup at all. The ZR-1 was $139,000. The 7.0L was sold to a guy in Florida for ~$65,000 and the magnacharger camaro is something like $56,000 and still looking for a home. I talked to the performance division manager and he discussed the possibility of modding a turbo cobalt. He took a liking to mine and i showed him what i had under the hood. Also be on the look out for their comercial, they just got done taping it, consisting of burnouts, fire, and helicopters.... the comercial is going nationwide.
Just when you thought it couldn't get better, i asked to drive one of the stock camaro SS's, and one of the guys said no, as the people buying them don't like to see mileage on them. The performance manager, Dan Carlton topgun1ice@aol.com, stepped in and said he has another 600hp camaro being built and should be done in a week. What does that mean? Hes going to drive it to my house and let me take it for a spin. YES!, im going to get to drive a 600hp camaro. Well im done flapping my gums so heres some pictures to drool over until i get the dyno sheets:

$30k for a pulley and a PCM sounds like someone has a nice mark-up.

Just to answer your post the MSRP on the ZR1 is 120,000 from General Motors. It is a 3ZR package with chrome wheels. I sell this car for 139,000. Their is more to the package then just a pulley and a tune. (Headers just to name one. Price them they are not cheap) The other modifications that we do are proprietary and we do not like to advertise them.

We also put a 3YR/36,000 mile Warranty on the car.

As you would agree when you do these types of modifications at normal modifiers you usually get no warranty. I feel that are Warranty surely has to be worth something.

Hennessey performance for example charges 40-50K just for their ZR1 upgrade. (And you supply the car)

Just wanted to clarify the package. I appreciate the post.

That's a little better, but still over-priced. Cars like this should be in the $80k-$100k range, not $139k. For $139, you could buy a standard Vette, modify it enough to run 9s, and buy a new turbo diesel pickup with the leftover money.

Well in that case, you should be looking more at their camaros. 7.0L aluminum block dropped in there and sells for mid-$60K (IIRC) is going to be a good bang for the buck. These are also pretty optioned out from the factory.

Try and find a factory stock car that is more powerful than a ZR1, and that is a livable/practical (Airbags, Heat/AC, Nav, tire pressure monitoring, ABS, Traction Control, HUD, Cruise Control, etc.), and that costs the same or less.

I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but I don't know what it is...so please find it for me. Bonus if it comes with a 100k mile powertrain warranty, a 36k bumper to bumper warranty, free roadside assistance for 5yr/100k, etc. I really don't think any factory stock car can touch the ZR1 numbers for the price, especially when you consider the warranty (GTR anyone?).

On Chevy's website it looks like you can option out a Corvette ZR1 to just over $120,400 (they must have lowered prices or something, the last time I looked you could build one to over 130k). So it looks like there is about $19k added, but that obviously includes cost of parts, labor, and warranty. Seems like a very good deal IMO.

Nah, a $60k Camaro seems like a worse idea yet.

Bump, these are some very nice cars and Dan seems like a very good guy. I spoke with him via PM and if I had the money I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these cars from him!

He is. I bought my old 06 SS 2.4 from him at Salisbury Chevrolet many years ago.

It might seem "high," but they still have to honor the warranty. I think it's pretty cool and I wish I could talk our dealership into doing this.

WRONG! They are voluntarily offering a 3yr/36,000 mile power train warranty.

Well thats still pretty good considering what has been done to them. I'm figuring of course that most people wouldnt drive them any more than a few thousand miles per year anyway.

I could also buy a Civic in the $15,000 range and put $125,000 into it and make it damn near break the sound barrier.... The argument you make is one of the oldest in car modding history, and one of the worst too...

Thanks guys for the nice compliments I really appreciate it. I just thought I would invite you both seeing you are local to the car show in Ballston Spa this Sunday. We are going to be bringing out our new HTR750 427 Supercharged Camaro and another ZR1 we just finished. Hopefully you can drop in.
Currently we have 12 sold HTR Camaro's and we just shipped one to Texas and one to Florida.
We are actually in the process and putting together something with the Cobalt and I will keep the forum posted on what we will have in store. I Have always been a Cobalt fan and I was really impressed with Hiltu's car.
Appreciate all the feedback..

DAAAMN. You guys should install a Dyno at the dealer. That would attract some customers!

actually chevy still has to warranty everything on the car that is still theirs. and most of the serious engine builders have some kind of warranty. normally just a year or two but its some kind of warranty. vortech has a 3yr 36k warranty and anything roush and saleen put on your mustang are covered by the factory iirc. maybe steeda too
