Help,Think thermastat gone reads, ---F

When i turned on my car (07ls) this morning my coolant temp read ---F. Turned off car and restarted only this time check engine came on. Let it run for a few minutes to see if would go away and didnt. Started to check other stuff and discovered A/C no longer works either. Any help ideas would be appreciated. thanks

umm... I would guess a bad relay or fuse maybe? That would be the first things I would check. Not really sure how else your coolant temp sensor and a/c functionality may be combined.

Check the wiring to the coolant temp sensor and the temp sensor itself.

If the car is not getting a temperature signal (bad sensor or wiring) the dic will show --- and the car will not know what the engine temperature is. Since it does not know what the temp is it will assume worst case (too hot) and disable the ac and kick the fan on to high.

Bad thermostat will not cause --- to be displayed but you would see the engine temp never really getting up to normal (if it stuck open) or getting too high (if it stuck closed).

edit: Anyone else find it kind of odd that ads for Ford Trucks come up in this Chevy forum?

X2. Definately a coolant temp sensor problem.
