OEM Anti-theft system?

What kind of anti-theft systems did GM install in the Cobalt from the factory?
I found out that the alarm begins blaring if I lock the doors using the fob and open the door with the key. I didn't find any other switches/sensors for the trunk or hood. I didn't find ultrasonic sensors to detect interior movement either.

Does the SS/TC have RF transponder keys?

Edit:

2009 and up Cobalts use the Key-Pass III system which means that they do use transponder keys.

I'm also interested in what all the factory anti theft system does, it only prevents someone from steeling your car right? It wouldn't actually protect from vandalism?

Different subject but what would be the best value alarm system to protect from vandalism? I heard from someone that it's hard to put in an aftermarket alarm system on these cars.

The only problem with alarms that protect against "vandalism" is that the vandalism has typically already occured once the alarm goes off. Most thieves that decide they are going to steal something out of your car aren't going to care about an alarm, same for most vandals. They figure they can do their "work" and be gone before anyone sees them, and usually they are right.

Lock the car with the fob and then open the trunk with the key. You'll find out really quick that it does have a sensor for the trunk... the normal "trunk ajar" sensor I would think. It has one for the hood too I believe. I tried the trunk just the other day actually to see what it'd do.

In the owners manual it tells you how many honks mean what if you unlock it with the fob and it honks at you.
