My wife bought a 06 ss s/c 2 weeks ago...she learned to drive 5 speed 4 years ago, but has never owned a maual car.
She knows how to shift and such, but she is having a problem stalling when reversing and in first.

She NEVER over rev's the car on take off so i am happy, but she bogs the car down and somtimes stalls in first. Everything else she is great at

How hard on the car is it cause it really pisses me off LOL

OHh god dude that would **** me off so bad!!. I'm 17 years old and my mom bought my car and I won't let her drive it for that same fear lol.

 

I do find it easier to stall though. Nothing compared to an rx-8.

 

she only stalls it once in a while BUT she does BOG it down when taking off cause shes afraid to use the gas

 

Tell if she wants to drive it, she can make the payments.

 

I'm sure that soft stalls and a little bogging are much better than burning the **** out of your clutch by easing off it at 4k rpm.

Tell her to hold the throttle around 1000-1500 and slowly release the clutch. That should make it much easier to get in gear and not put much stress on any part of the car. (only your nerves)

 

actually, if she wants to take off slowly, ive found that if you release the clutch slow enough, you dont even need to add the gas pedal, it will slowly take off
i do it when im extremely lazy, but dont try it on any incline cus it will stall guaranteed

 

True, that's a great way to learn where it engages. I don't even use the gas when I'm backing out of a parking spot.

But you're gonna get some mad honking if you drive like that on the street.

 

I had questions about stalling and such and after a memeber from the board told me about the poor throttle response our cars have, i buy into that idea. Ive owned a manual trans. car for the past 3 years and have known how to drive a stick for the past 7. Ive never stalled a car as much as i have this one. Partly because im trying to be really easy on it, partly because of the electronically controlled throttle sucks for response. Id take throttle by wire over the electronic box anyday.
