key fob question

ok i broke my ONLY key fob. im going to buy another from the dealer. can i program a new key fob even though i dont have a working one anymore? if so, where is the how to?

you can only program them through the GM Tech2 scanner....that I'm aware of

some of the older GM vehicles had a strange programming method that excluded the Tech2

did the solder point(s) break at the battery contact? try resoldering the point(s)

re solder them and then put a piece of cardboard inbetween the plastic and battery so it wont happen again. worked fine for me

you can get them on ebay for like 15 bucks and take them to the dealer to have them program it with the tech 2.. Just make sure you get the right p/n for the fob itself

well that sucks... on my old cougar 2001 i was able to program a new one by myself in like 20 seconds... fml lol

iunno like 40 bucks, cheaper than the 155 the dealer quoted me at for a new one

Back when I had my Cavy and I didn't know better I paid like $180 for the fob and programming from the dealer.
