Question New Jack in the house. Tons o' Questions

Hey Folks,

You all have been great help. I've been reading the boards for about a month, and i've gotten great ideas from you all, but now I have some questions, and I hope you don't mind answering.

1. What type of intake does the 2.0 SS SC have already? Would it be worth doing a CAI? I thought it already had one. If not which one is better to go with and why?

2. The SPEC Stage 3+ Clutch Kit; what is the purpose, and is it worth it?

3. The piston kit I see people talking about, what's it's function?

4. Which came 1st, the chicken or the egg

Thank you so much for answering my questions!

The stock intake on a ss/sc is an airbox located in the wheel well. You might believe this is a cai because an aftermarket one would be run into the exact location.

2. The purpose is to have a better clutch. By getting the stage 3 you can handle I believe 100% over stock hp. It would be worth it if you drag race alot, have a slipping clutch, or have high hp and tq number.

3.to change compression ratios, and they are stronger than factory I believe.

4. I don't know

Actually from what I heard is that even with SPEC Stage 2+/3 people have been slipping at the track. Kind of disappointing.

i would like to say love ur name, and welcome to the site. I suggest u try the search function that will help you the best. as for questions....

1. I think the best intake is the fugita. then 2nd best is the ingen. beleave me, you want an intake it sounds so amazing!!!! the whinnnnnnnnnnne so loud and scary.

2. the stage 3 clutch kit isnt needed.... but if ur going all pro racer go for it. its worth the money only if ur going to use it for upgrading ur hp alot.... because u dont wanna use a stock clutch and add like 400hp...

3. the piston kit is what is needed for our cobalts to get to the 300hp mark says GM. Im sure theres other/better ways to achieve this goal, but were all still waiting to find out.

4. the chicken... how else would an egg hatch without a big warm ass on it?

welcome to the site again.... the people on here are mostly cool peeps... some should just drink bleach... and die.

Bleach is great!

This was amazing. I cannot believe how quick this got responded to. I've been telling my performance guy that I don't need a CAI, but guess I do now. Thanks so much. I'll grab the Fuita from turbotech or cobalt-addiction tonight.

The pistons, whats the install time on that? It is a lot of work involved?

Do you guys think I should try the clutch kit?

I knew there was something I was missing.

What is the supercharger boost bypass? What does it do, and the function?

Where the heck did you guys learn all this stuff from?

I see in your signature you are running a 150hp Wet Kit? How is that working out for you? Spraying Pre Blower? Stock Injectors, Computer?

It would seem if you are asking these questions then you really don't know that much (no offense) so how are you running a 150 wet shot?

Interested, Dom

the boost bypass is a solenoid that releases all boost at about 6000 rpms I believe. In order to hold till redline you will need to perform the boost bypass mod(found in the how to's).

btw specs have been slipping. I'd try clutchmasters fx300 seems like a much better deal.

I was kinda wondering that he sure has an extensive mod list for not knowing much about the car.

I own the car, find the mod, have my installer do it. I don't ask questions. I've never really been into the whole race scene, rather just the exterior looks, and interior sound.

I've owned quite a list of cars, but nothing race worthy. Just flashy. Does that make sense?

The NOS is going right into the throttle body, and is attached to the WOT and can kick in at 3k RPM when the switch is activated, or manually when I hit the volume up button on the wheel.

I guess I should provide pics eh? I'll get on it tommorow morning.

Interesting, you and your installer do realize the fuel is going to eat the coating (epoxy, not teflon) off of the blower. I am just interested in other supporting mods here, I have not seen over a 75 shot yet. You must have bigger injectors then I assume and I didn't realize the MAF and ECU would be able to handle all of the extra oxygen, similar to how a stock computer cannot handle a 2.6 pulley. Please Enlighten.

Sounds like someone has more money than brains... TVs? 150 shot? seems like a wast mixing them. Sure your adding power but the weigh you added from all your entertainment crap has probably negated most of it. I would try and stick to one plan and not try and do everything. Knowlege is power, do some reading round here.

Does the additional 2pds from the entertainment stuff really make that much diff?

And I am mistaken, it's a 75 shot.

Cool, but so you know the fuel is eating the coating off your blower.

I really don't believe you now you just pick what you want and bring it to your installer? How the hell do you know if the stuff your bringing will harm your car or put it into limp mode? I'm gunna have to call BS.

Can anyone comment on the feel (hard to press in?) of the stock clutch to an aftermarket one? Does a higher staged one mean it is stiffer? Thanks...

Ehh well you had it at 150 two seconds ago.

Crome wheels = Heavy
all the Tv's speakers and LED kits add weight and slow you down.
3" exhaust is excessive unless you're going turbo, even then its kinda big

If you think all that weighs only 2lbs more then your sadly mistaken and don't understand everything that has to go into all that stuff.

Yeah sorry, Im calling BS as well. Also if you would search you could answer your questions in 4 seconds. If your asking what pistons and clutches do/are then you should not have nitrous on your car (if you do).
