So I got the GMPP Manifold Installed

After convincing the dealer that it would indeed fit (exhaust manifold is the same for all the Cobalts). Cost me $160 for labor... not too shabby considering I got the manifold off of e-bay for $160. So $320 installed for a $300 part... hehehe

Anyways... the "seat of the pants-ometer" Can't tell much of a difference yet... but my ears tell me that it's working nicely. The stock exhaust idles a bit louder, sounds more smooth at WOT... and gives a nice gargling sound on the decel. I'm gonna give the car a week or so to get used to the new part... then head back down to Mooresville dragway and see if I can hit 9.8 or better. I'll post my slips when I get them.

I've heard 5hp or so... it's nothing huge... not like a full header... they basicly did a port & polish on the stock exhaust manifold... so it flows better. I didn't feel like getting a full header... and I wanted something that could be dealer installed and GM warrantied. I'm hoping that it will lead to better gains when I get the throttle body and exhaust done.

You may not feel or notice any difference with just the manifold. You are still restricted by the muffler which being down stream, will still obstruct total flow.
I changed my manifold and felt bearly any difference. I just install my exhaust today and with the two combined I do feel the power gains. I do have the SS/SC, though, but shouldn't make a diff.

Further to that mixed with the intake you've also removed the restriction of incoming air as well.

Participation in the Performance Parts program is 100% voluntary. Some wont even bother to order A GMPP component for you- even when they know they could, OR they quote you "full pop" retail in a "take it or leave it" attitude.

Sometimes I understand their reluctance, given all the hassles when a part that THEY didnt look up or verify compatibility on doesnt fit/doesnt match/too big/too small/isnt compatible etc etc and the orderer is like "I want to return this" (like it's Wal-Mart or something)

Like most GMPP orders car enthusiasts just like to be able to say "order this part number" But you should consider it's pretty much your baby from that point.

Each dealership has its own guidelines, so the one you deal with may not install the parts. My shop is more than happy to do any installs of GM Performance parts or Accessories.

What website carries the GMPP ported manifold if I can't get it from the dealership? I can't seem to find it on the GMPP website.

I got power gains. Even have a dyno run to prove it. I do have a 2.0 Supercharged.....You'll definately see an increase, how much that is.....??? I don't know.

It's been mentioned that the muffler is a restriction, it is....as well as the cat. Now jerry, one ???? you went to the track and got a 60' time of 2.3....the mph you have quoted in there is wrong, no way in hell you got to 72mph in 2.3 sec. That might have been the 1/8th mile....but not the 60'
mods list: Injen intake, gm header, greddy muffler, westers garage ecu flash. 1/4 time 15.08 at 90 mph
60ft time 2.3 at 72mph

um, your basically saying that in 60' (which took you 2.3 seconds) you achieved a speed of 72 mph.
Think about that, you can go ZERO-SIXTY in less than 2.3 seconds.....it aint happening
go back and re-read your time slip, you might have hit 72 at the 1000' mark maybe even the 1/8.

The dealer was able to reuse both of my gaskets. The tech said they were both just fine.

And Jerry... I ran the 1/8th at 72... with a 2.3 60ft.

LOL.. I'll get some pics up soon if you want... but there's really no point as it looks exactly the same as the stock one on the outside.

Doc took these pics of the inside of the manifold... that's where the difference is.

Oh, and I've got just a little over 6000 miles.
