Airbag service light

My airbag service light is on and I'd like to make it go away. What does it mean when it comes on and how do I rectify the issue?

it means that there is a problem some where in the system that needs attention and in a collision it would be like rolling the dice they may or may not deploy, so if your still under warrenty take it in

it may be a short if you have warranty go have it looked at i was told that you may need to replace both sesors one in the seatbelt and one in the seat

Alrightie! Mine is alllll fixed! so the issue was "passenger seat belt sensor tensioner" .... weird eh!? so they replaced "seat belt&retractor due to broken wire" if you want more specifics just ask but thats what my problem was!

Airbags aren't typically something you want to play around with. If you do decide to investigate them, I strongly suggest you unplug your battery and wait 10 minutes before probing wires with a multimeter. Do NOT use a self powered test light.

best bet is to just take it to a dealer, airbags do contain high explosives... Or if you're out of warranty, a good shop.

not really related to the Cobalt, but some of the first airbags used contained the equivalent to 8 sticks of explosives, and were very powerful.
