High-rise to Low-rise Spoiler question..

So I am about to purchase a low-rise spoiler from someone to replace my highrise. I would have preferred to have swapped trunks, but I couldn't find anyone willing.

So my questions are:

Will it be expensive to have a body shop swap the spoilers? Specifically due to the spoiler holes not matching up to be the same.

And will the filled holes give me trouble down the road(i.e. Water in trunk)? I know that the quality of body shop determines a lot to this one, but in general, is it a bad match?

I've done searches, but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for your time and answers!

As long as the trunk comes from an SS, i'm pretty sure they are a direct bolt on, with the same mounting holes. Someone else can confirm this though.

Coupe high and low are a direct swap. Same for sedan "high" and low.

Sedan to coupe or vice versa requires filling and drilling.

Bump for anyone else wanting to contribute, but also, I have heard that the high-rise spoiler base leaves a depression in the trunk. Will it be noticeable, or can is there a fix for it? Any info would be great. Thanks again to those who have already contributed.

It's not so much that it leaves a depression in the trunk, but it does leave a slightly noticeable outline around where the base of the spoiler used to be on the trunk. Most likely you can buff it out. I went from low wing to high and it buffed out. Also, holes are compatible. No worries my friend.

i did it. the adhesive is a bitch. my trunk has the outline of the highrise and it has dents from pulling it off, but you cant see them unless you are looking for them. it was worth it because that highrise was ugly and pointless. it just bounces in the wind and blocks the rear window.

I have nothing to say other than why is this so popular? don't most SS guys love that huge spoiler like STI guys? if I was an SS I would rock it stock exterior...

no, many people hate it. It looks ugly from all but a few angles, flops around like crazy while driving, totally blocks your view, and provides zero benefit for 99% of the members. The people that love the hi rise are the ricer 2.2 and 2.4 members, and many 2.0 members that bought their car with the low rise. O, and god forbid you have to shut your trunk lol.

I like keeping everything stock as possible looking on the outside for the sleeper effect, but already being an SS you can't do that unless you get the LS spoiler like me. Just confuses people on the road, since they don't know if your a TC, SC, or just a 2.2 I was unaware of the floppiness! my low rise does that too, even when I shut the trunk... GENERIC MOTORS FTW~

Thanks for the info guys!

Yeah, the main reason I want to get rid of the spoiler, is because every ******* with a fart cannon and massive spoiler tries to race me, plus cops immediately brand me as a speeder. Plus I think the lowrise spoiler just matches the bodylines better..

Anyways, thanks again for the input guys! Priceless info from this forum as always..

i went from lowrise(still for sale and is vic red if the other one isnt buy mine) to a high rise and had to take the high off again to get repainted, i just heated the **** out of the adhesive with a blowdryer about 8-10 min each side and they came right off, high rise was a little tricky but not too bad. and i just did the same to loosen up the adhesive still on the car, comes off with a little elbow grease

I've made the switch on both my SC and TC . The first time i swapped spoilers i had about 350 dollars worth of pain and body work done to make it look perfect. There was a dimple in the trunk lid from the Hi rise bases that the smaller low rise base doesn't cover up . The 2nd swap on my newer TC was done with a trunk swap. It was 10X easier to swap trunks than to go threw the BS of taking the spoiler off.
