Yeah... why the heck does every major aftermarket manufacturer have to be located in California?

There aren't that many 2.4's anywhere yet... especially ones that people are willing to modify.

Actually you are mistaken the 2.4 uses VVT and so the tune up is different. I do a lot of testing and play close attention to how the ECU will interact with the intake system, believe me even though one intake from a different engine fits an engine that uses advance technology like variable valve timing might not like it and eventually will either run very poorly or through check engine lights( the power might also be down since the intake was design on a smaller engine), that is why when we design a kit we use multiple vehicles and we even (with the owners permission) do a very thorough road test to make sure that this does not happen. Our goal is to provide you guys with a intake system that is of the highest quality and gives you the most relaible amount of power.

I've been to San Francisco and it is about 6 hours, we've used cars from the Bay Area in the past, I really don't know if the distance is the same to Sacramento since you are more centrally located in the state

Now im no car expert by any means, and i dont know how much work goes into tunning an intake, but isnt it just a tube with a filter? I mean i just dont see how it will make more use of the VVT and make more power than the intake designed for the 2.2. With that said i do like that more companies are starting to make more stuff for our cars, i just dont understand how a piece of metal with a filter can be tuned to take advantage of VVT unless somehow it is going to pull more air..

I don't understand it either my car was being used for R&D for the cai and it's a 2.4 w/auto it was throwing a lean code and they also said it even went into safe mode so even though alot of people have 2.2 intakes on their car I'm going to wait until they call me back in when they design the real 2.4 intake like you said how does an intake pipe make that much difference.. I posted a thread about this same issue when I got my car back. I live in so.cal and not too far from Riverside but I just dont have time to let another company use my car right now. Maybe i'll see what they can do on fridays or how long they really need it I do have some comp time comming from work, I'll see what I can do
n2ones I looked on their site and that R&D list is form Sept 2005 When did you see or hear they needed a 2.4 well I just re-read your post you must work there any way I pm'd you

I wish it was that simple, I do the R&D here and I'll tell you it isn't just getting a tube and putting a filter into it. If it was this simple we would have had a kit out last year. Other companies might follow this approach but we do not! All new cars are very sophisticated with computer that calculate sensor inputs at rates faster that our pc's at home do, all this info is translated to outputs the computer uses to determine the proper parameters the engine needs to get your car moving. If you change certain parts of the stock engine then you can run into trouble....I will follow up with more info later but I’m at work so don't have a lot of time to get into detail right know

OK's 2.4's I was e-mailed back from K&N I have an appointment set-up for May 22 I'm just waiting for the return reply from them. Believe me I know how complicated this electronic control stuff is I work on diesels with computerized components at a college and one mistake and your running to lean too rich and then some,: just like n2ones said it's not just putting tubes on and hope it works no codes so its ok theres alot of things to read in to this. When I get my ecu and tcm done its going to go to a specialized shop. I could do it but would rather have them do it on a dyno at the same time our dyno at work is being moved..Well i'll keep everyone up to date when this happens

Do you have an approximate time frame for how long this will take to be in production after you develop it? I would love to have the Typhoon instead of the Injen.
