Short Shifter fix Broke Linkage?

Will buying a short shifter (Preferrably the TWM for the SS/TC), help the common problem of the broken shift linkages? Just curious. Thanks guys!

A shorter throw is not going to put less strain on the linkage when shifting, it's simply going to make the throw shorter. The linkage is still moving the same distance to engage the gears regardless of what shifter you throw into it. If you want a shorter throw, put in a short-throw shifter. If you want to save your linkage, don't push the shifter beyond engaging the gear and don't rest your hand on it while driving. I might sound like devil's advocate here but I seriously can't see it doing any good from the perspective of extending the lifespan of the linkage. You'll be more likely to "overshift" (for lack of a better term) than anything else.

Ah. Ok. I see man. Thank-you for you input. TWM says that it will help with the problem because the pivot point is moved, so he said it would help us...

*scratches head*....I don't really have anything to argue what they're saying but I just can't see how this will help. Imo the majority of linkage issues are caused by the rollpins themselves, or people beating the ever living hell out of their shifter when shifting quickly and over-engaging the gear. It's your call but there's no way a shorter throw is going to fix the two things I just pointed out unless someone can explain something to me I'm missing ?

I hear ya man. I'm just saying what they said... I think they may be wanting to make money. Haha. But it's for RYRO14's car. He's ALWAYS breaking shift linkages, and I keep telling him he needs to learn how to shift like me, and it won't happen. So I'm hoping the STS could help him out.

Oooooh you have THAT problem; sheesh I thought you meant snapping the linkage all together. Depending on how the TMW is setup yes it MIGHT help with that but I've never looked at it close enough to say .

True that. His parents have an automatic Tahoe. Hahaha. Yo! Did you want to roll out to the track on Sunday?
