Can you remove standard options?

I was wondering if when I go to order my ss s/c, can I remove the rims from my order? Like can I buy my own rims and get reimbursed for the ss s/c's?

Thanks

Most likely not. Try asking your dealer about that. But if you are going to get different rims why don't you just use the ones from factory for the winter. That is assuming that you are going to drive your SS all year round. You could also try selling it.

I have not heard of a customizing program from chevy on this car yet. Typically chevy will not allow the removal of standard options from a car unless they have a costomizing program set up for the car. You must understand why they do this...... if you change one thing from the standard car they would have to recalculate the total car expense, adjust their parts count at the factory, and pay special attention to your car as it moved down the line. Like it's been said used the rims for winter, that's what I'm doing

Exactly, what Im going to do use the stock rims for the winter so the car stil looks pretty pimpin than find some kick ass 18's for the summers. I hate those black rims that everyone uses for winter, i can see why they do it but the car looks so ugly than.

rims

are the standard 5x100. I had this checked out by the local pirelli dealer. Also the cost of 18" winter tires is a lot more than you think. $435.\tire so check this out with your local tire dealer before making your decisions guys.

maybe $435 in Canada, but the Blizzaks (sp) are around $200 a tire from Tire Rack in the US. If you plan on driving the car in the winter you will have to get winter tires. The Pirelli's are only rated for summer use.

you will also not be getting 18's for the winter. You need a bigger sidewall for a winter tire so you'll probably be getting 17's and a high sidewall dimension for your winter set.

Why not just get a set of 15" wheels with the 5x110 bolt pattern and A: See if it clears the rotors and B: Snow tires would be cheaper on a 15" wheel. Or if they don't clear (doubtful) get a set of 16" it'd still be hella cheaper than getting 18" snow tires. Only real drawback is that it'd look ugly though the winter months.

this option is what they suggested at the dealers and the $435. quote I got were for Yokohama winter\performance tires. Also I was told that by going with 16" the difference in size (from 18") would be made up in profile height and not looking totally ugly. This option allows you to by whatever style of rims you want for winter driving.
