Emissions Testing

I got a notice for emissions test.. I was wondering if my car will pass if im running a header and a catless downpipe? I have no CEL...I had my rear O2 turned of when it was tuned..Anyone else go thru this yet??? Car is 06 ss/sc..Mods are in my sig

you can pass without a cat as long as they dont look for it and your not throwing a cel.......we just tested my buddies gto here in illinois with no problems. a tuned 5.7L with an intake, jbp full length headers, catless midpipes and a flowmaster exhaust.

Yeah i was told as long as i dont have any CEL i should be good...Hope i pass

they just connect to your OBD 2 port right? they dont stick the sniffer in the tail pipe do they?

Im hoping they dont stick there sniffer in my tailpipe lmao.. I heard they just hook to your OBD2 now days and if you have no CEL lights your good. I havent had emissions done before so i dont know..Tryin to get a heads up before i go

I know this thread is forever old,but i just now got my emissions test done..I had to rebuild the motor first..Anyway my car passed with no problems..

In Cali they do sniff the exhaust and plug into the OBD2 while running it on the dyno rollers. They are not supposed to pass anything that has been modified unless it comes with a emissions sticker like the K&N intake does. What I suggest is to go down and talk to a shop in person and tell him of the mods. Usually they will tell you that they will not fail you on visual as long as it passes the dyno.
