Hey guys, picked up a Zex kit this weekend and I am in the midst of installing it now.
Right now I am hung up waiting for some longer lines (4ft) so I can mount my ZEX NMU modules more out of the way. I am planning on running the shot through the supercharger so I will report back on it if I have any problems, but it seems other have done the same type of install with some sucess so I am going to give it a shot. :guns:

It's a Zex Wet EFI 82021 (http://zex.com/Products/NitrousOxide/Wet4-6cyl.asp) kit and it's a 55-75 shot.

Here are some pictures of the install in progress.

The wiring mess, this is actually a little accessory fuse block I installed under the radio, it handles my wideband, my Interceptor gauge, and my inline FM modulator and now my nitrous system. You can't really tell whats going on in there but I promise to clean it up before I button up the car.

Here ya go. The driver side is pretty crowded in the cobalt so I figured it would look nicer on the passenger side.

I put my solenoid and purge valves right behind the grill of the car, wish I had some pics to show you guys. It purges right below the bowtie on the grill. Control box and all the solenoids are visible through the grill, it look super sweet...Had the zx kit on for almost a year now, good luck with the rest of the install. I have a question. I have a dry shot kit. Can I make it a wet shot? Prolly a stupid question just asking, because I am to afraid to spray before the SC. Thanx

Most of the vendors sell a dry to wet upgrade kit. Pretty sure Zex does.

Looks awesome Zinner, now you just hafta clean up the lines a bit, but I assume that's why you wanted the extra 4 ft for, lol.

Can't wait to hear how the engine likes the shot before the blower. It should be fine Grand Prix guys have been running it that way forever.

;) correct me if wrong, but how can u run a wet shot threw the supercharger?? wet shot is a mixture of nitrous and fuel. a dry shot is just nitrous threw an intake or before the trottle body. why would run a wet shot threww the supercharger?? i must of heard wrong sorry to bash, just askin lol!!! i also heard theres a teflon in our supercharger which starts to come off if we use nitrous. i think best desion on nitrous is just direct port,,,,safest what do u all think???????:)

A wet shot is a mixture of fuel and nitrous correct. It usually is introduced before the throttle body as well....basic wet shot. Very safe. More advanced wet shot is direct port.....drilling and tapping each individual, and having 4 nozzles. Wet is the safest way to go because it adds the extra NEEDED fuel. As far as introducing it before the super charger, yes it does increase the likelyhood of premture impellar wear.

right I see that, but it looks like those are lines are more than long enough. I was thinking of mounting it like 05YELLOWSS did his kit. Looks like the best place to me...thats where I plan to mount mine eventually as well.

The lines wsith the kit at 24 inches and they aren't long enough.

I just got the 4 ft lines in today and they are the perfect length.

Do you have some pictures of a better way or even a description?

He is more then likely still picking up the bottom end pieces of his block after spraying that shot going down the street. Can someone say "Under Warranty?"

 seriously though, have you engaged warp speeds yet? My other question is why put the switch by the stick? You know if you have a passenger they will be tempted to play with it there. I would have mounted it in that area where the trunk release was at so it's not in plain sight regardless ;)

For those of you looking at the machine gun kit, don't waste your money. You can pulse it with your finger just as fast, and it is no louder than a regular purge. Kind of misleading on Zex's part. Better off just getting and LED purge and hitting the button quick...... I'm a lil angry I spent the additional 100 bucks.

What did you Dyno with your kit on the 2.4? Seem as fast as an SS/SC?

Hah a dyno. I don't think they know what that is where I live now. Also I've never been in an S/C so I couldn't tell ya. Sorry bout that.

by theory it should be just as fast as a sc, if not faster (due to weight issues such as the heavy 18'' wheels the sc has)

It wont damage the blower, the blower used in the balt doesnt use a teflon coating as originally thought, it uses epoxy instead, so its nitrous safe

I ran it today and of course it runs stronger. :guns:

There is a couple people running a dry shot with bigger injectors, I think your limited to about a 50 shot dry before you pressing your luck.

I don't have any misconceptions that Nitrous is worry free and I realize that it is going to put more stress on the engine and it's components, but I don't believe that the blower is going to fail signifigantly faster because of a wet shot.

If it does oh well, I will have learned my lesson the hard way.

well I would suggest mounting the unit right in front of the blower in the grill/headlight area BUT I forgot on the Cobalts the engine space is super tight in the front because of the blower so nevermind. could always mount it on the firewall I guess...

Interesting, I thought running the dry shot thru the blower was a no no? Am I mis informed here?

SPLATT
06-08-2006, 03:54 AM
im sure you could run a dry thru it but a very small one...and i wouldnt press my luck. as with most apps on a more or less stock car, a wet shot will be able to run a higher shot (not by much but noticeable) and will no doubt mix better (correct me if im wrong...). but I always say make sure you have a fuel pressure safety switch, and a window switch at LEAST. Good luck woody, if you need any help...you know where i work
