You'll need to get a tune or a maf translator and definetly go with 42 injectors from intense

Go with 42 lbers. Trust me. Go on Intense Racing's site. You have to buy them in conjunction with the Casper's wire harness. Another thing you need is TUNING. You need some kind of tuning. You can't just slap that 2.8 on with injectors. It's not going to do the trick. Get a custom tune from Intense or buy a maf translator to trick the computer yourself.

gm stage 1 includes 42 lb injectors so you don't have to worry. Gas mileage won't go down that much from what i've read.

EDIT: Gm stage 1 consist of a new pcm reflash and fuel injectors that are 42 lbs.

You might also need, a bigger idler pully, to take up the slack from using a smaller pully, and stop belt sqeak.

If you ordered the stage 2 belt it will fit perfectly as is.

So how much cheaper is it to do it without ordering the whole kit straight from gm?

If you plan on doing an HP Tune, then don't go the stage 2 route.
Get the pulley size of your choice, 42.5# or 60# injectors and if going to a 2.8" pulley, a smaller belt...then tune it yourself (or someone in the "know" to do it)

Depends on how much the HP Tune costs at your end.

Although the GM stage kits are coming down in price, or so the rumour goes.

I didn't put a bigger idler pulley on until I went to a 2.6. How long have you had the car? If you plan on ever going smaller than a 2.8, I would even consider 60# injectors. Much smaller than 2.7" and they are necessary to supply enough fuel.

My 42.5 lb injectors work great with my 2.7pulley, and set-up i have, a good tune with hp tuners, makes it possible the car runs great, and i had to put a bigger idler pulley with the 2.7, there was so much belt slip, and belt sqeak.

I honestly believe a custom dyno tune with a 2.8 will put you light years ahead of a GM tune that you throw a 2.8 on.

For sure!

And to the thread starter, the price for the tune is if you know someone with the HPTuner.
If you have to buy it yourself it is <$500.
