GM stage 2 & reflash; or stage one, 2.8pulley and stage 1 reflash

Is this possible? Why buy stage 2 if you can buy stage one, get the reflash and put a 2.8 pulley on?

I just asked a similer question in another thread, stage 1 and 2.8 pulley is the way to go.
you'd be wasting your money to get stg2 then 2.8 pulley.

MY UNDERSTANDING FROM PULLEYBOYS IS THAT THE 2.8 WILL WORK WITH THE 3.0 BELT THAT COMES WITH A STAGE 2 W/ REFLASH. THEY SAID THAT THAT BELT AND 3.0 PULLEY HAVE A .300 VARIANCE WITHOUT ANY BELT SLIPPAGE. FROM 3.0" PULLEY FROM STAGE 2 THAT IS ONLY .200 TO THE 2.8, SO IT IS WELL WITHIN RELIABILITY WITHOUT SLIPPAGE. i HAVE MY STAGE 2 ON ORDER AND WILL SOON BUY THE PULLEYBOYS 2.8 PULLEY TO PUT ON AFTER GM PUTS MY STAGE 2 IN. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE SPACER OF SOME SORT THAT COMES WITH IT HAS TONS OF LESS MOVEMENT FROM THE STOCK ONE SO THAT HELPS WITH THIS ISSUE. SAID SOMETHING ABOUT .004 OF MOVEMENT VS A LOT MORE WITH STOCK. HOPE THIS HELPS

Yes, the reflashes are the same for stage 1 and stage 2. I would go with stage 1 and a 2.8 inch pulley and a new tensioner pulley.

Buy a new tensioner pulley.

"more aggresive ECU recalibration"

quote from cobalt-addiction.com for a stage 1 to stage II upgrade kit.

... i was under the assumption that the flashes were identical.. but apparently they are not?

THE FLASH IS THE SAME FOR BOTH KITS. STAGE 2 CONSISTS ON PULLEY AND BELT ONLY.

A lot of people make it easy on themselves. The S2 comes with the smaller belt which works with a 2.8" if need be, so no need for a tensioner.

Also the fact that the pulleyboys 2.8 is designed to work with the hub that comes with S2, so you can swap your 3.0 and 2.8 pretty easily and the dealerships will probably never know the difference.

S1 + someones 2.8" + bigger tensioner if you wanna be cheap about it.
S2 + pulleyboys 2.8" if you want as little hassle as possible.

if you swap out your stock pulley on the car with s1 then you risk losing your warranty if you do the same on s2 with a 2.8 no one knows but your trackman

I didn't think stg 1 bumped up your redline, could be wrong though.

Theyre both the same. 7k redline on both. (some people just dont realize the amount of Tach lag these cars have and it seems like less)

Your warranty really depends on your dealer who can scream customer abuse whenever they like and provide no warranty. As far as the stage 2 belt its about 40 bucks and took two weeks for me to get. Stage two is a waste o money IMO

if you remove your stock pulley you can pretty much say goodbye to the warranty if an engine failure happens. If you get stage 2 and then swap pullies you retain it they wont know what you are running at that point, plus if you get a smaller belt for $40 or get a tensioner adjutment you are almost there after hp tune and pullies etc. dont be so cheap! lol

True enough. I worked at the dealership I got my car from and I don't drive like a **** head so I should be ok.
