G5 Pursuit vs. SS/SC Shocks
G5 Pursuit vs. SS/SC Shocks
i just bought Eibach lowering springs for my Pursuit GT. The Pursuits have Gas-Pressurized shocks while the Cobalt has regular shocks.
my question is will the gas-pressurized shocks in the Pursuit take better to lowering springs then the regular shocks in the Cobalt. Ie. Not destroying the life of the shocks

They won't be too much different from each other. The big problem people have normally had with using stock struts is that they put 30k plus miles on them and then lower their car. The strut is used to a certain ride height, then a large change is put on them which can cause them to fail. I think for the people lowering with less than 15k miles on their stock struts should be fine.
The GT Pursuit does not have Gas pressureized Shocks and Struts, only the SS/SC has them.
The GT has the Tuned Sport suspension packacge which is the same as the 2.4L SS
here are the differances in the suspension packages.
all 2.2L premium ride
This independent front strut–type suspension is tuned to “give” with the road because of a long wheel travel. In combination with a hydroformed mounting cradle, this Premium Ride suspension gives you a solid, precise feel.
Hydraulic rear ride bushings are also incorporated to help provide improved ride quality while limiting road noise.
2.4L SS tuned sport
Paired with 17-inch Sport tires, SS suspension uses monotube rear shocks to give you even crisper response.
Hydraulic rear ride bushings are also incorporated to help provide improved ride quality while limiting road noise.
2.0L SS/SC performance handeling
Developed from testing on numerous racetracks throughout North America and Europe, this suspension — exclusive to SS Supercharged Coupe — is designed to perform.
This race–tuned, high–performance suspension that features independent front and twist axle rear suspensions — along with front and rear stabilizer bars. There’s also hydraulic rear ride bushings for improved ride quality and coarse road noise suppression.
In addition, gas–pressurized monotube rear shocks and dual–rate springs are tuned for the ride and handling characteristics of the SS Supercharged Coupe. These add to vehicle ride and handling with improved damping response during extreme handling events.
but to answer your question, yes your suspension should take better to lowering, as apposed to the base cobalts or pursuits.
the SS/SC would be even better, but regardless of any of these. your shocks will not last as long as they would with the stock springs.
